One of my friends trained MMA because he was low confidence. After 5-6 training sessions he became cocky as fuck.

One of my friends trained MMA because he was low confidence. After 5-6 training sessions he became wienery as frick. He went into an argument with some random guy, he told me and my other friend that he will beat the shit out of him. We told him to ignore him, but he didn't. The random guy said that MMA won't help him, then he ran him over with a car. Now the MMA guy is in hospital and who knows what's gonna happen to him. Are martial arts useless since there are no rules? Some guy with a gun can win over someone who trained his whole life, it's fricked up.

It's kinda depressing that if I have a firearm, I can be unbeatable vs. some martial artist who trained his whole life.

All that training and fine tuning his body and mind but nobody told him to move when a car is coming

It's almost like MMA can't save you from being a dumb ass...

Learning to fight and defend yourself is great for mind and body.

Not learning to apply yourself CAREFULLY is terrible all around. You can train all day but still get 1 hit KO'd. Maybe you die when your head hits the ground. Maybe you get curb stomped.

Maybe you get bang beat. Maybe you get stabbed. Maybe you get shot.

Fighting and violence outside the ring is especially not worth it - it's too unpredictable. People need to learn to keep their ego in check, no matter what.

Seconded. Same goes for carrying a gun out in public. People who can't handle their emotions and actions end up killing someone in a road rage incident or whatever. Stick to defense in all these arenas and hope you never need to.

Yes fights are dangerous and a lot of people out there will do literally anything to not to get hurt. They will shoot you, they will gouge your eyeballs, they will crush your skull while you are on the ground. A lot of people out there with nothing to lose. Your friend is naive and it will get him killed if he doesn't wise up.
