Unfortunately, our young working boy couldn't help but be pynched by Pynchon: the publishers wanted the book to be more like the then-recently released V., and wouldn't publish it unless Toole retooled it, which he was unwilling to do.
anybody read Toole's other book? it's called The Neon Bible or something similar iirc
This book is a masterpiece, his outbursts in the cinema really had me going. It's a shame Toole killed himself, I just don't see how he couldn't get this published.

Do I believe what I am seeing? This thread is degenerate beyond the comprehension of the faculties of mans' reason
That’s Oyish in general.
Anymore books like it? I'm currently reading catch-22, so that's out the window.
Wise Blood
Catcher in the Rye
Isn't that the book where the main character raped his sister or something?
Yes. He rapes his sister, Phoebe.
Rape is a meme.
I thought "Dog Logic" by Tom Strelich was a riot.
try dave barry
That's the only book I rated one star on goodreads. It's so bad
the writer was obsessed with Flannery o'connor so maybe one of her short story collections

Yeah. It's not funny, it's serious. It doesn't have nearly as much greatness as Dunces but I thought it was very good nonetheless.
You can read it in an evening or two, it's short. Would recommend.
The Dog of the South. It's just as funny.
MovieBob is the real life version of Ignatius
Why does he jerk off to dogs bros
The dog was the only creature that loved him, it was all his b***h mothers fault tbh
I want a Myrna Minkoff
That's just a typical white American woman these days.
I laughed at that mongaloid line

I always thought this would make a great animation in the style of family guy
Why aren't there more fun movies like this?
*books
The real literally me
It’s a hysterically funny book. Definitely deserves a spot in the canon if it doesn’t have one already
