Now that it's almost confirmed that ETH will be declared a security, do you think that BTC will take a huge hit too?

Securitization of ETH is actually bullish as it denotes institutional stability.

Nobody gives a shit about "decentralization"

This. Retards try to FUD ETH by saying it is a security, when the reality is if labeled as such, the foundation will just register and ETH will become the first major given institutional approval as a crypto tokenized security with consistent yield for securing the network.

I'm a BTC maxi and I endorse this copium. I wouldnt even hate on ETH if they just acknowledged they were a security instead of trying to act like they are a commodity.

it's entertaining that mETHhead schizos think this is how it works. imagine the dump when securities fraud indictments are released

Enjoy having all major US exchanges delist ETH and every other alt coin the SEC arbitrarily sees as an "unregistered security"

Won't matter. BTC will simply become the currency we trade our shitcoins for to accrue more BTC on DEXs.

Would it not be considered "illegal" to trade said "unregistered securities" if you're in the US?

no, it just means the ETH devs have to pay a small fine. since they don't control the supply anymore it won't affect ETH secondary market like it does the coins where the devs hold 99% of the supply or can mint tokens.

ETH and other coins flagged as securities will probably be traded on exchanges connected to a clearinghouse that is complient with SEC regulations if they chose to register as a security.

the current cexchanges will most likely partner / get bought by a bank or disappear
coz it would be too much of a customer loss to miss out on all the securities that make 99% of trading volume rn.

Dexes will still offer non securities and obviously illegal trade of possible securities but only very few projects will be fully decentralised to make that even remotely possible. The last network I had faith in was Terra Luna but yeah that one got nuked for obvious reasons. I dont see any other good decentralised project out there.

nope, the CFTC regulates ethereum futures as a commodity. And the SEC has never implied ETH was a security. the only thing Gensler has talked about was centralized ETH staking services potentially being securities, like binance's BETH token.
