Nothing was worse than scenecore (metalcore and deathcore) culture.

Nothing was worse than scenecore (metalcore and deathcore) culture. Nu-metal, while shit, was at least a taking the reigns back from alternative music, while leaning on those trappings but making the music more ballsy. Scenecore however, was just fusing metal and extreme metal with hardcore, screamo, and pop punk and marketing it to Hot Topic pussies. It was the worst ever.

You can trace the origins of this kind of music to Embrace, Refused and Descendants. I don’t think they meant to cause this though.

No one did. Everyone thought that metal was old boring boomer shit and wanted nothing to do with it back then.

Lmao again, how would you know? I don't believe you were actually there. Post some merch to prove your age, I don't believe you at all.

I was a metal kid at the time and I hung around scene kids because I failed a grade and just had to, they definitely all wanted metal cred and wanted to be considered metal even though they weren't related to it. More so than punk cred, even though they were kids who were into pop punk prior, they should have been garbage for the punk homosexuals to deal with. They were kids who would do "THE CLAW" in myspace photos thinking it was a "metal" cool thing to do, do you remember that? Of course you don't, you weren't around.

Kinda funny that you're mad about stuff that was relevant 10 years ago, but this makes me nostalgic.
Lol, I was really there. Played deathcore in 2008. I think my wife should still have Chelsea Grin merch somewhere.
There was a weird wave of slam/brutal death metal love with deathcore kids, but other than that metal was rarely loved. I remember playing bass solo from "Death - Philosopher" at rehearsal and the guitarist just looked at me with disappointment and told me that this was old school shit and I should listen to some modern stuff instead. Dude totally loved Necrophagist tho.

Ok, well I remember being like the sole metal kid around a bunch of streak haired mallcore kids who were always trying to get me into their gay ass bands, but of course I didn't take them seriously because these were the kinds of people who were just into Fallout Boy a year before

See, if corekids wanna be corekids, that is fine, but they should never act like they are metal kids. And acting like they never wanted to be metal kids is disingenuous since being a wanna be metal kid is the entire basis that coreshit is based on. Whether they were fans of As I Lay Dyind pretending to get Iron Maiden, or fans of some shitty deathcore band pretending to be fans od death metal, they were all the ultimate posers.

There's a sociopolitical argument to be said that the music press turned on scene at the height of its popularity out of nowhere. It was kind of like a proto gamergate.

So you like a watered down Hot Topic version of extreme music a lot? I mean, maybe if you listened to a variety of music to begin with, you'd see how contrived it was instead of being like "oh wow this fulfills my need for catchier poppier music but its still got screams in it"

          >It's not remotely poppy
it's no pop in the sense that it doesn't sound like katy perry but it's songwriting is extremely poppy and acessible. they're just substituting choruses for breakdowns

also the lyrics are usually the most low IQ, vulgar, teenage-rage "FUCK YOU YOU STUPID WHORE I HOPE YOU DIE" and "IF GOD IS GOOD WHY DID HE CREATE A WORLD FULL OF SHIT""

If you really think about it all of the popular genres were created by teens. Blaming newer generations for having fun is kinda dumb.

Miss, you're queefing up the wrong tree, pussy. Metallica is and always will be bigger than any coreshit band, and I like them. I just don't like mallpunk homosexual bands who hate metal but jumped on the metal bandwagon to sell it to punk kiddos who wanted to be edgy. You and your kind are posers, you never cared about metal, just be in your own fucking lane brah.

I was actually a teen in the mid 00s when this shit was going on, not just wishing I was like you, and people on the punk side and people on the metal side both hated fucking mallcore scenecore kids, and it had nothing to do with "hooks", it had to do with them being posers who gave no shits about anything they were appropriating
