Nothing was worse than scenecore (metalcore and deathcore) culture. Nu-metal, while shit, was at least a taking the reigns back from alternative music, while leaning on those trappings but making the music more ballsy. Scenecore however, was just fusing metal and extreme metal with hardcore, screamo, and pop punk and marketing it to Hot Topic pussies. It was the worst ever.

You can trace the origins of this kind of music to Embrace, Refused and Descendants. I don’t think they meant to cause this though.
Scene girls were hot.
nah it was fun
How would you know
I WAS THERE MAN
Well you know what, I'm genuinely glad you had fun, just don't pretend you were metal
>Well you know what, I'm genuinely glad you had fun, just don't pretend you were metal
No one did. Everyone thought that metal was old boring boomer shit and wanted nothing to do with it back then.
That's not true. Everyone thought they were true scene and that Disturbed and Limp Bizkit were homosexuals.
Lmao again, how would you know? I don't believe you were actually there. Post some merch to prove your age, I don't believe you at all.
I was a metal kid at the time and I hung around scene kids because I failed a grade and just had to, they definitely all wanted metal cred and wanted to be considered metal even though they weren't related to it. More so than punk cred, even though they were kids who were into pop punk prior, they should have been garbage for the punk homosexuals to deal with. They were kids who would do "THE CLAW" in myspace photos thinking it was a "metal" cool thing to do, do you remember that? Of course you don't, you weren't around.
Kinda funny that you're mad about stuff that was relevant 10 years ago, but this makes me nostalgic.
Lol, I was really there. Played deathcore in 2008. I think my wife should still have Chelsea Grin merch somewhere.
There was a weird wave of slam/brutal death metal love with deathcore kids, but other than that metal was rarely loved. I remember playing bass solo from "Death - Philosopher" at rehearsal and the guitarist just looked at me with disappointment and told me that this was old school shit and I should listen to some modern stuff instead. Dude totally loved Necrophagist tho.
Ok, well I remember being like the sole metal kid around a bunch of streak haired mallcore kids who were always trying to get me into their gay ass bands, but of course I didn't take them seriously because these were the kinds of people who were just into Fallout Boy a year before
See, if corekids wanna be corekids, that is fine, but they should never act like they are metal kids. And acting like they never wanted to be metal kids is disingenuous since being a wanna be metal kid is the entire basis that coreshit is based on. Whether they were fans of As I Lay Dyind pretending to get Iron Maiden, or fans of some shitty deathcore band pretending to be fans od death metal, they were all the ultimate posers.
>le extended laughter proves i am not bothered but rather find it amusing
Laugh more triggered queer
>gatekeeping genres for children
huge homosexual alert
>le metal is for children
classical is for virgins, I'd beat your homosexual ass
I drifted between the punk, metal, and “core” kid crowds in school.
They was good people’s.
Some were mostly fashion, but some were genuinely into the music.
Idk wtf kids do now but we went to shows. It was fun.
Before iPhones and Instagram.
MDE WILL NEVER DIE
I love Sam Hyde
Sam Hyde fucks guys
>generally played their own instruments and were start ups not industry plants
>retard bumbling over beats mass produced by like 12 people
>absolute bottom of the barrel tier musical talent
Rap doesn't count as music you fag, don't use it to prop up coreshit. Nowhere in the OP was rap mentioned.
There's a sociopolitical argument to be said that the music press turned on scene at the height of its popularity out of nowhere. It was kind of like a proto gamergate.
The music pressed turned on rock music AS A WHOLE at the same time all press turned against white males in general. We all know this, it doesn't make scene kid music any better.
>the music press turned on scene at the height of its popularity out of nowher
the music press always turns on any scene when it reaches the height of its popularity
music critics and elitism are unseparable
I was a death metal elitist in the 2000s-2010s and only recently started listening to deathcore and metalcore. I actually like it a lot. I regret not giving it a chance when it was actually popular. I still hate djent though.
So you like a watered down Hot Topic version of extreme music a lot? I mean, maybe if you listened to a variety of music to begin with, you'd see how contrived it was instead of being like "oh wow this fulfills my need for catchier poppier music but its still got screams in it"
have you actually listened to any deathcore? it's not remotely poppy.
I was more referring to metalcore I guess but sure deathcore? Ok so you like fucking watered down death metal with Limp Bizkit and hardcore garbage in it
Ok cool, so go dye your hair with red streaks so if I ever see you in public I know you like shit music
>It's not remotely poppy
it's no pop in the sense that it doesn't sound like katy perry but it's songwriting is extremely poppy and acessible. they're just substituting choruses for breakdowns
also the lyrics are usually the most low IQ, vulgar, teenage-rage "FUCK YOU YOU STUPID WHORE I HOPE YOU DIE" and "IF GOD IS GOOD WHY DID HE CREATE A WORLD FULL OF SHIT""
>also the lyrics are usually the most low IQ, vulgar, teenage-rage "FUCK YOU YOU STUPID WHORE I HOPE YOU DIE" and "IF GOD IS GOOD WHY DID HE CREATE A WORLD FULL OF SHIT""
That would be the subhuman hardcore influence that is beneath any true metal fan
The progressive metal fan is the smartest kid in remedial math class.
The core fan is the non metal fan who mainly listens to Green Day and isn't part of the metal scene at all
Emmure and Atilla is not the only deathcore bands, lol
I always loved All Shall Perish.
Damn, I miss times when being political in music was cool and edgy.
Teen angst is teen angst, and that's all that shit was, no adult would listen to it
Still listen to picrel occasionally. Great album. It was probably pure fun for their guitarists.
If you really think about it all of the popular genres were created by teens. Blaming newer generations for having fun is kinda dumb.
I just think death metal with hardcore breakdowns sounds cool dude no need to get your panties in a twist
Imagine being an elitist about power chord music
>the mainstream corporate sellout kids are soul
Oh, how sad it must be to be a zoomer who never experienced real subcultures but needs to latch onto the most recent ones
Most scene bands were only ever signed to minors.
Imagine being mad at success and whining about how a group you like is incapable of writing a single good hook even if they tried.
>durrrr they're not trying to write a hook because its a choice
No they just aren't capable mentally or physically at writing or singing a hook so they play a genre where they can fingerpaint with poop and say it's a choice and they could draw hands if they wanted (they can't)
>Most scene bands were only ever signed to minors.
Most of them were Interscope subsidiaries.
Miss, you're queefing up the wrong tree, pussy. Metallica is and always will be bigger than any coreshit band, and I like them. I just don't like mallpunk homosexual bands who hate metal but jumped on the metal bandwagon to sell it to punk kiddos who wanted to be edgy. You and your kind are posers, you never cared about metal, just be in your own fucking lane brah.
I was actually a teen in the mid 00s when this shit was going on, not just wishing I was like you, and people on the punk side and people on the metal side both hated fucking mallcore scenecore kids, and it had nothing to do with "hooks", it had to do with them being posers who gave no shits about anything they were appropriating
It's poseurs. And who cares about power chord music. All of those genres are complete jokes. Mehgfughl and pank is a desperate attempt at a masculine identity for born-in-captivity whitoids raised in a cultureless suburban hellscape with no sense of tribal belonging or identity and no connection to the earth.
Your entire cultural identity was handed to you by a israeli crook and you're going to get on someone else for trying their hardest to define their own reality in spite of their odds? Just fucking kill yourself homosexual.
>t. rap fan cuckold
Don't care what you think homosexual
Yeah I was, I'm in my 30's, hard for you to believe idk why....but you're a homosexual zoomer who will never be a part of any of the subcultures you try to claim lol you have no fucking culture you little weasel homosexual, all you can do is try to be a Millennial when you aren't one, you have no idea what growing up was like for us but you pretend to, get a fucking life
>only rabtph and mehgudghdl exist
I don't understand who that's supposed to make fun of.
>I was actually a teen in the mid 00s when this shit was going on
no you weren't lol
Greasy Metalheads still seething over sexy scenechads getting all the pussy in high school decades later
Kid who wasn't around at the time pretending he was, how cute
The Raven Age is still kino
It was a better time. Every single person in this photo would be absolutely slathered in tattoos if this were current day
Some of those dudes aren’t even doin it right, they scene-hair fail. Isn’t the blonde one at the bottom of the stairs that goofy interviewer kid from YouTube?
I want to stick my penis inside everybody in that picture.
I used to get a boner seeing emo boys kissing on MySpace back in the day
No it was awesome actually
scene kids sucked
