I'd say it could be a sign of slowing inflation or a cooler labor market.

It can also be the rush to build online sales/store pick up is over. Walmart was over paying to bring in persons for these positons. Now that the positions are filled there is no reason to over pay to attract workers.
Read the article. The starting pay cut only effects these specific positions, not across the board.

There's been recent news about Walmart fucking over pharmacist pay/hours as well. I'm glad they're doing their part to fight inflation.

They weren’t really fucking over pharmacist pay. They were just asking if anyone wants a 4 day work week or fewer hours in exchange for up to 20% less money. It sounds like a deal that could be favorable to older pharmacists with paid off everything.

The people who actually get fucked over in that scenario are the pharmacy customers that have fewer hours to pick up their medication.

So... A pay cut. And that's in addition to cutting store hours so pharmacy staff have to work harder to get the same amount of work done within a smaller time frame. Thank God I'm at Publix.

Employers are going to start slashing wages to "fight inflation" but somehow all their prices will magically stay the same.
