not wearing glasses this time around because I’m in a good mood and wanna be earnest.

this year and even the past month have been really hecking awful for me in a lot of different ways, but for some reason today I was in a good mood. Maybe it was the fact that "Smash Mouth – All-Star" was playing in my head, or maybe it was me finally accepting that I can, and should put the neuroses and misfortune of this past year behind me and live the life I truly want in 2023, maybe it was just pleasantly sunny.

Anyway, here’s to a happy new year for me, and all of you too, even my fellow tripfags, strange bedfellows though they are.
A year where we can put the hardships of this last one behind us, and move forward in all our best qualities, values, and pursuits, and none of our worst flaws, anxieties, and vices.

And to those who aren’t even sure what their best qualities, values, or pursuits are, who don’t know who they wanna be, what they wanna do, or whether they even deserve to try, (and believe me, I’ve been there this year)
here’s me praying to whoever’s listening that the coming 12 months are packed sunday to saturday with growth and discovering the best version of yourself you can be, and that I’m able to have that too.

Good luck with life anon, and happy 2023 to you!

have a happy new year, Doug

        thanks

hey Doug, I want to let you know that I gave you some shit here and there and I’m glad that you’re still around. You’re looking more serious here, but don’t abandon your goofy side, unless it was a coping strategy. Have a successful year!

to be honest, the goofy side was sort of a coping strategy with the fact that i wasn’t conventionally attractive and couldn’t take myself seriously as a person
i hope i’m able to even things out, and make the goofiness work for me as an authentic part of my style rather than a cope
don’t worry, i’m not ditching the bow ties, winklepickers, or funny little glasses.
I also hope my youtube channel does well, and if it does i’ll start doing more live-action and fashion content, even splintering off for a TikTok. it’s small, but there is a niche of vintage menswear TikTok accounts that do play to the strengths of that platform, even though tiktok is mostly cringe outside of nichetok edits and meme slideshows
i’ll probably want to wear a mask for that though. I don’t wanna end up wanting to private everything I made if I have another episode of self-loathing around my appearance. It’s not something I’d like to have happen, but I know what I’m like, so better safe than sorry.

Thanks dude. You’re a gem on this board. I hope things get better. I’m in a rut these past few months as well. Moved to a big city, following my partner who’s doing a PhD, and I’ve been isolated, and turning off. But I have the motivation to change and I will. Here’s to the best version of all of us, and some compassion for the not-the-best versions. They’re trying too.

Think about every decision, large and small, that you’ve ever made in your life, and write them down. Then, please do the opposite of everything you wrote down for the rest of your life. This image has ruined my day.
