How exciting, another analysis of the Battle of Actium! I've no idea what happened in this rare historical battle!
Pro tip.
No one really does the whole battle is poorly sourced
I blame Agrippa for not providing autistic commentaries like Caesar
Thanks anon,id hate to miss an upload from Historia Civilis
One of the few based channels historical battle wise. Kings and Generals is fucking cringe as fuck and has literally inserted politics into discussions of battles with "proliterate" and "bourgeoisie"
Invicta is the only other channel that is half decent. But he is better on social and cultural stuff. Like his video on Roman fast food is very interesting
I like toldinstone. His videos are comfy, and seeing stuff besides, "here is this battle several other channels have already done," is nice.
>literal antifa that can't stop seething about Augustus
All of these youtube meme square battle channels make it all up, unless it's like a Napoleonic era battle like Epic History TV
Historia Civilis is a marxist that cites tankie stalinists like Eric Hobsbawm and believes in historic determinism. He has been careful so far, but soon he will go full breadtube.
He practically did by the end of the Caesar saga. It's funny how watching his videos in order you can tell when he started going to University or something close to that.
>historic determinism
Yeah why he seethes so much at great men
He was actually trying to paint mark antony giving half of Roman territory to egypt and making a bastard child king of italy a good thing purely because he has a contrarian hatred of all things Caesar.
I picked up this undertone of dislike for Augustus with his emphasising of Agrippa's role in the campaign strategy and battle throughout the video.
How do historians currently rate Augustus? From my understanding he excelled at:
> Allowing the Senate to function and not being a dictator
> Amazing propaganda; allowing Rome to develop a distinct identity
> Decent cabinet posting selection of trustworthy folk
I guess there's not much else an emperor really has to do, beyond securing succession, which he was extremely unlucky with.
>Amazing propaganda
When is this ever a good thing? Let a culture form it's identity unless said identity undermines the people or state long term (assuming the state is not tyrannical)
The next big piece of literature after Ovid's works were the Gospels... It obviously makes a big difference.
Tankie stalinists love Caesar and Augustus.
Any channel that uses video game footage i.e. total war series as part of their "battle footage" is cringe and I will not watch them.
What? He's become incredibly biased for a long time now, at least Kings and Shills has good production value.
>at least Kings and Shills has good production value
Spoken like a true normalfag.
Historical accuracy > goyslop agenda pushing with le heckin cool visuals
Invicta is the fucking worst, lol. His only saving grace is that he (mostly) doesn't insert it into the battle episodes, but it is noticable during the civic ones and overwhelming when it comes to any civic episodes dealing with post-classical periods.
why is LULZ obsessed with this particular ytber?
Because reading a paragraph of the primary source for the battle is too hard
>dude actium wasnt decisive
>goes on to deacribe Actium being decisive
Dude needs to stop talking about his own hot takes and go back to regurgitating history books
HC I knkw you read these threads and I want to remind you that you are a weak fat soiboi homosexual BITCH
HC I knkw you read these threads and I want to remind you that you are a strong fit based chad KING

Honestly this guy is my favorite history israeliteTube channel. I simply enjoy his videos on a whole other level, viewing them is like a ritual where I have to accompany them with some Rome 2 Total War and an episode or two of HBO's Rome
Agripa should have taken power instead of Augustus. Every single victory is his.
