    you guys are so fricking dumb, esim does not equal sim lock. iphone 13 already support esim. If you want to swtich carries you simply get qr code to scan instead of physical sim. That is all to it. Esim is even better if you have like 15 sim cards as you can store them all on your device and then activate 2 you want to use. you are overacting again like with headphone jack

    • 2 years ago
      Anonymous

      > just scan a code
      My second sim is Russian. To activate it you need an app from Russian App Store, because fricking GeoLock by apple. I can not get another eSim without physically moving to Russia to get it.
      Guess what’s not an issue with physical SIM cards?

      I fail to see the issue. My old S7 Edge has a SIM/microSD tray and a headphone jack, yet it will still survive being chucked in the pool. Heck, the S5 had all of that plus a removable battery behind a pop-off back with a ribber gasket, and still survived the bottoms of pools. Are people wishing they could take their phones scuba diving, or is Apple just this trash at waterproofing?

Physical might be easy to physically steal but it doesn't have a million other different ways that makes it simple to steal. What exists to make it not easy as frick for malware, spying apps, etc to just tale your cares? Frick even just people tricking normalgays to just give it to them? Frick this garbage. Physical SIM is freedom. Phone broke / needs repairs? No problem, I can pop out the SIM and stick it in an old phone so I can take calls in the meantime. Traveling abroad? Again, no problem, just pop out one SIM and stick in another. The SIM card has always been an advantage GSM had over CDMA.

    And if you ever need to transfer back to a physical SIM, like to switch back even temporarily to an old or cheap phone, frick you, go to the store and pay the fee to get a new SIM only to permanently destroy it again by transferring it to an eSIM when you go back to one of these eSIM only phones.

      > eSim

      esim = embedded sim
      it's the same shit you had before, just soldered onto the board
      literally no change other than you can't take it out of your phone and be botnet free (since SIMs can be activated without turning on the phone) so now it's truly a 24/7 spy device.

      Enjoy it in 5 years when you watch a video and the audio starts recording and sending data home to say which movies you watched so it can see if you purchased them at apple or disney HQ for the measly price of $50 per month + $30 watchers fee

      This already happens with advertisements and commercials, there's a inaudible noise that plays that mics have no time picking up so other devices know what ads and shit you're viewing
