New female-designed bus stop in Los Angeles

La Sombrita / "Little Shade" is an innovative alternative to traditional bus stops.
Easily installed and at a low price of $10,000 (compared to the traditional $50,000 required for a bus stop).

La Sombrita provides shade during the day and light during the night via a solar-powered light.

Designed by women and for women, on behalf of the Department of Transporation's Gender Equity Action Plan, the project aims to make female riders feel safer.

why would this make anyone feel safer than the version right next to it in , which is nothing more than a street sign that says "the number 16 bus stops here"?

        i don't know

I guess when you're in an enclosed space that's 100 square feet total, then you're more inclined to get robbed or groped?

Someone else make more sense of this if you think it's possible

They need to charge $10k so they can employ all these women as designers.

And no bench?? Id rather run the risk of getting raped than break my back trying to squeeze myself under this sad excuse of a roof.

America is a collapsing kleptocracy. It cares more about seeming virtuous and innovative than actually being virtuous and innovative. La Sombrita is a joke.

Why don't we treat women like property again? it should be clear to everyone now that If foids ran society we'd all be living in caves.

    >$10k
I could build something better than that in a weekend with less than $400 in lumber and steel, this is some grift. Pic related cost about $550.

      Cool treehouse m8

You would know better than me, but I wanna say $400 is still too optimistic. I know that perforated metal stick thing costs $30 at home depot

Its for deer hunting but you're right it IS a good treehouse.
        >I know that perforated metal stick thing costs $30 at home depot
You're right but why perforate it? I was thinking more along the lines of an angled tin roof, with 4 posts like an outdoor shed. Tin doesnt rust, its cheap and itd work well.

          >You're right but why perforate it?

The only thing I can think of in their defense is MAYBE if it was any larger and wasn't perforated...homeless people would sleep under it, and they don't want that?

They should build in something that shoots shotgun blasts at homeless people. That would be a good feature.

This is nothing. LA County once built "micro homes" for the homeless, to the cost of millions. I worked out the price per square foot of construction to be higher than luxury real estate in manhattan.

I don't get it, if I was doing something like this I wouldn't want my picture in a news story. Or maybe it's a gangster move like robbing the 7-11 barefaced.

Like are they really that proud? I'd be embarrassed to be tied to this.

If safety mattered they could use that new uber like app where the drivers carry guns.

So it's smaller, only 1 peeron can fit in, doesn't shield from rain either. Basically useless, it doesn't matter it's cheaper if it doesn't even do it's job...
