They removed the bezels which used to house various sensors. Now the latter were all put together on an unnecessary extra device called smart watches.

You don’t need lossless audio outside a home/studio environment because you’re going to be heading a fuck ton of background noise. Also, if you wear open backs in public you are a homosexual.

Smartphones are planned obsolescence garbage. They've moved fully into the territory of industries like fast fashion. Convincing you that you don't need a thing if it will save them a few cents or even fractions of a cent per phone is only good business.

I'd rather start carrying an actual camera at this point and get a cheaper phone. Unfortunately I'm not sure what the intersection between "Runs actual Linux" and "Doesn't give a shit about cameras at all" is in the current smartphone market.

I use nice Bluetooth ones but maybe I'm somewhere away from home and they die or get lost yet I still want to watch a video or have hands-free calls. As is with the jack, I can use whatever random cheapo buds, just plug them in and go. But with this retarded no headphone jack trend, I can't. Phones are no thinner, no cheaper, no lighter, no smaller, and have not gained any useful feature from the removal of the jack. All it has brought us is less options for connecting audio.
          >muh USB C dongle
Dongles suck the big one. Nobody wants to travel with a sack full of dongles to make what used to be fully functional in itself, usable again. Also random stores don't have them. Random stores have earbuds though.

How is the 5 IV for heat, do you notice it get warm from web browsing or watching video? I'm considering one over the 5 V because I want the notification LED and smaller side bezels

The only time I ever notice it get warm is when I'm using it while charging. Web browsing, video playback, emulators, etc are all fine. I think the overheating complaints were overblown, and everything else about the phone is excellent.

I tried all sorts of apps. They drain battery like crazy.

No notification indication means that I simply don't see notifications if I wasn't near the phone when it arrived, so in turn I'm using the phone less. That's probably a good thing.

No notification indication means I have to turn on screen notifications because I am an adult that people depend on and I can't ignore the world. However it is a bad alternative to the LED light which stays on until you check the message.
