Need help with my game story.

ok, since I want to practice my game design skills and also storytelling skills, I want to share some ideas I have off some basic story.
Since I want to make a basic kind of demolike off some story for a rpg engine.

For such, I will pick the most obvious almost hello world stories, red riding hood.
Which pretty much everyone on the internet knows, I assume.

So, I need the following points.
>Red riding hood goes from her mother house to ther aunt house, she then returns later in night.
>There's an evil wolf who will capture her while she travels the forest.

So, I assume I need some level path to go from A to B, and another from B to A.
I assume the mechanics could be as follow:
>Walk (obviously)
>Be captured by the wolf (takes 1 life and removes a food item from her basket, level resets here)
>Dropping the food so the wolf eats and sleeps leaving you alone
>Some tools for the wolf, mainly small stuff like fallen leaves that creates sound so the wolf can chase you, eventually stuff like a rock that falls, small mice, frogs or things that cause sound when near
>Some camping grounds where you can craft newer items and food based on your basket using wild berries and apples and other forest wild food like mushrooms

So far this seems a solid NES like design to cover the basic premise of the story.

As for the story development, I assume the following.
>Tutorial conflict, (wolf initially loses for some reason, he's tied with a rope)
>First path (wolf has a rope that causes him to be weak and fail)
>Middle of the story first climax (wolf unleashes his power and causes the initial bridge to close, making red riding hood to need to take a more dangerous side of the forest to return)
>End of the story arc (wolf becomes a boss, because of rage and is taken down by some hunter who you help in the middle of the second path with hunting some tutorial deer buck mini boss)

Ok, so this is basically the core design.
Pls rate.

So Turner diaries is the meme of the day eh? Or is it just that it’s America posting hours, where I’m usually not on this site?

Who is your audience? If your audience is your peers (I'm assuming young) don't assume they're going to be interested in this, no offense but it's very juvenile.

I think there would be some gamers into a good basic jrpg similar to rpg maker, but using 3D models.

Wait so you're making a game? That's what this is? Because if that's the case then idk man you should probably play other games in the more artistic vein in order to get a better understanding for storytelling. Look at undertale for example, look at how he wove the story into the game play and figure out that.

the issue is not using words or cutscenes, only gameplay.

not gonna read the op, but does he rape her?

I doubt I can sell that on steam.

I think you're approaching something that honestly is a bit too abstract and you're gonna have to figure out what you really want to do. If this is for a school project or something that's one thing but for others to enjoy it? What's the message here? What's the theme? What's the point? If you can't figure those out then you just have a bunch of 3d figures jumping around on screen.

You don't need to practice writing to make a video game. Game have shit writing and are successful, what matters is gameplay.

the idea is telling a story using gameplay.

And that's a very loose and abstract concept. How does one tell a story with game play? Does tetris tell us a story? Does Pac-Man? Does Ikaruga? I mean I think what you should do is find a game that uses game play to tell a story. Find one and then model after that. I can't think of any off the top of my head except maybe Ico or Shadow of the Colossus but even those are meh. Journey might be something you can look at also.

OK so I see now what you're getting at, but this game has a GIMMICK you have to figure out what your gimmick is in order to get your point across.

I like Portal 2. The story unfolds as you go along. There's never a cutscene (that I remember). Just pure gameplay.

If you're making a game to just make money then yep you can do this and then when the sales stop coming that's the end. Undertale was a classic title because it not only had a great story but fun game play and people are still buying it after 5+ years of inception in contrast to Last of Us for example which is a bomb. It really depends on what you want.

Undertale had shit writing and gameplay. It was only successful because the author had amassed a following and the game le quirky.

Having never played it and with very little knowledge about it, this. I can tell it's a woman game. Le quirky and being part of a new "thing" is responsible for 98% of its spread.

          >But you haven't even played i-
You are a woman. Shut the fuck up.

Hmm...i don't really agree with you there buddy. It had a great story that was tailored to unwind based on the decisions of the player which itself was great because when you play a game you're supposed to make decisions and he did that and the story would move with it, the game play was simple enough but provided just enough context to help the player understand the scope of the battle going on. I'm not saying there's anything philosophical about it lol but I am saying that it's a very well thought out and cohesive narrative that did everything it needed to do to make the game great.

If Undertale is your idea of good writing, you're ngmi. Great story? Seriously? You play that game and the story is "great" to you? You need to reconsider what you consider great or you'll set yourself for total failure.

I'm already published my man, I just like simple story structures like undertale that allow for players not to get overwhelmed with philosophical ramblings but still understand the morals of a game. I think you're looking at it from a very surface level and that's fine but look at the way the game is balanced and you'll see it's a bit more constructive then just HURR DURR HE MADE FUNNY DOGGY AND FUNNY LE BONES MAN HAHA

                >I'm already published
If you published literature as opposed to a game, then you don't really need help. Story in games is easier.
