Name a single historical event that took place there that had global repercussions.
Brutal difficulty: Don't mention the collapse of the spanish empire.

The slave trade on the Atlantic coast of Brazil, and perhaps the transfer of the Portuguese Empire crown from Lisboa to Rio de Janeiro.
What do you have against Brazil? It's a kino society tbh

Beef/Llama Jerky
Everyone always remembers potatoes as the premiere food export of South America, but Andeans were also the first to create Jerky as we know it. The word Jerky itself is taken from the Quechua word Ch’arki, which was Llama/Alpaca meat Natives left (and still leave) out to freeze-dry on the mountain slopes. Spaniard mispronounces/spells it, and Jerky is born
Also Syphilis 🙂
>Also Syphilis 🙂
Deboonked. Evidence to support it being a New World disease were always shaky
Oh damn, didn’t know that, gonna have to read up on it
Learn something new every day I suppose
The jury is still out, but as recent as 2020 there were some findings of treponematosis among skeletons prior to Columbus and his voyage.
Many people attributed the disease to the Americas because of the first major outbreak in 1495 after Columbus came back, but some specimens from as far back as the 6th century show signs of bone deformity common in advanced syphilis.

Nothing really, they had a extremely low population in the early 1900’s so were unable to even pose a threat to anyone and their iberian genes meant that little scientific innovation would come out of there too. None of which is a bad thing, i dont know why the latams have a huge chip on their shoulders because of their irrelevancy
>i dont know why the latams have a huge chip on their shoulders because of their irrelevancy
I know, right?? As a latam I actually love it. Feels like living in a quiet, comfy part of the world, away from all the mainstream geopolitical shitshow that happens mainly in asia, north america and europe.
As a yuropoor the thing that boggles my mind how much violence there is inside south american countries but how there is basically no war between them. European societies are far more peaceful to live in but in the last 120 years there were wars with milllions of deaths and multiple genocides.

Cuban Revolution

Me having sex with black women is a much more important event tha anything euros did since the fall of Constantinople
The overthrowing of the Brazilian Monarchy
The mining of gold and silver caused the price revolution which impacted the global economy
The mining of silver created the first world currency and started globalization, china will collect taxes only on silver, the interruption of trade to Philippines-China after the independence wars and the need of silver to buy tea by the British will bring the opium wars and the Chinese defeat, then starving Chinese labour will arrive on the west coast of the USA to finish the railroad.
Also the opium wars were so bad for china that they know the XIX century as the century of the humiliation, so they are now flooding the west with fentanyl in revenge
>Quinin was discovered in South America as a treatment for malaria
>Potatoes, tomatoes and chili are all South American crops created by andean farmers
>Southamerica, specially brazil and Argentina have been relevant for the creation of a third axis of unaligned countries to much chagrin of USA zogbots and commie demons
>Argentina and Brazil aren't just another breed of commie demons
Argentina sucks ass since decades ago, they're irrelevant in the world stage.

No, but seriously though, the Paraguay War, the fall of Inca Empire, the discovery of silver in Potosí, the transfer of Portuguese capital to Rio de Janeiro, etc.
The Columbian exchange. Imagine Italian cuisine without tomatoes or most of European cuisine without potatoes.
Albert Einstein proved his theory of relativity by making observations in the deviation of light during an eclipse. He did it in the northeastern part of Brazil.
During the Napoleonic invasions of the Iberian peninsula, the king of Portugal fled with his court to Brazil, avoiding the fate of Spanish court, taken as hostages by the Napoleonic army. This gave courage to Portugal to make a treaty with England to position troops in Portugal, starting from there the downfall of Napoleon in western Europe.
