Very few Chinese dynasties last so long they're considered their own "period" I guess you could argue that for the Qing though.

tbh i dislike how some maps show the basques inhabiting up to asturias
Cantabria was never a basque region and the basques in the early medieval period were mainly in the Pyrenees and didn't even extend to some parts of the basque country
those areas did have some nominal Visigothic control, with some fortifications like Olite or Álava being built in the VIth and VIIth centuries to control the area
Cantabria and Asturias probably had some holdout celtic tribes (with verying degrees or romanization), with major cities in the coast under visigothic control (Gijón)

That sweet spot before the real kick off of the Age of Exploration between 1493 and 1600, actual armored knights with firearms and shit just owning hordes of brown people and whoever else, truly epic

      >ctual armored knights with firearms and shit just owning hordes of brown people and whoever else
I like that period too but didn't the europeans mostly own themselves by the time firearms became widespread?

I was tired of being impersonated and misrepresented in conversations which were three or more posts long, and there aren't IDs like there ought to be. Longer conversations like that allow for higher quality discussion.
It's a win win because anyone can filter me

Bronze age collapse. The high middle ages were just a normal time period. Bronze age collapse on the other hand...
Youre dying from the poor harvest, the governing system is dying from corruption, apthe trade routes have been interrupted and you're forced to use stone, and a bunch of sea raiders are fucking you over.
