New macs are just insane bruv. There's no competition. Over 10 hours of screen and still at 30%. What the fuck.

The negatives invalidate all of that
You too fucking stupid to plug in a charger every 6 -10 hours or something?
>The negatives
What negatives? The most efficient chips? The best in class screens and bodies? The best proprietary (aka non-hobbyist) desktop OS?
My guy it's 2023 not 2020, all software is already here.

don't project your retardation on me
works on my machine
Anyway the thread is about the battery life. There's not a single other manufacturer making anything remotely similar.
No need to act butthurt just cause you take tech personal
>The most efficient chips?
On par with Zen 3 on the same TSMC 5nm node. That's pretty shitty for a whole ass architecture change.
>The best in class screens and bodies?
ASUS has OLED laptops. ThinkPad is still king of durability.
>The best proprietary (aka non-hobbyist) desktop OS?
I'll give you that, Windows is a steaming pile of shit. But why the fuck should I care? I'm not a normalfag.
Forced shilling is quite annoying.
The individual characteristics can be found in the different laptops you mentioned, true; but UNFORTUNATELY only Apple makes one which combine good build, screen, battery life, OS etc.
Macs are also aesthetically pleasing but it only concerns people with taste so LULZ obviously wouldn't care judging by their battlestations, desktop screenshots and anime they watch.
>Thinkpad is still king of durability
had me until this, modern thinkpads are fucking awful, especially with thermal throttling, battery life, and flex
As long as it runs Windows better than on PC and I don't have to use any kind of apple software or their crappy keyboard, that could be fine.
>modern thinkpads are fucking awful, especially with thermal throttling, battery life, and flex
I could beat you half to death with my p15 and it wouldn't flex once.
More like 12 hours with those of that era that had the extended removable battery. The battery life on mine was insane in Linux.
Can't run Windows on an Apple M1/M2.
Apple Silicon doesn't support Windows and is barely even supported by Linux.
>ThinkPad is still king of durability
BUUUULLLLLLLSHHHIIIIIIIIIIITTTT
maybe back in the day, old timer
>tablet soc
sorry, I want real device, not toy
Disadvantages of macbook:
>guaranteed faults caused by terrible engineering on every generationn
>dying CPUs due to no cooling
>50 volt backlight line directly next to CPU data line on tiny connector, one random drop of water and your CPU is fried
>keyboards dying from dust
>most recently self-exploding voltage regulator sending 3x the intended voltage into soldered SSD randomly
>this is only the tip of the iceberg
Advantages of macbook
>MUH HECKIN EXTRA 4 HOURS OF BATTERY LIFE
God knows what unknown board issues the ARMshits have. We know for a fact the Air M2 will share its fate with the 12" Intel Macbook that had no heatsink, all of them have dead CPUs because they had no heatsink, just like the Air M2.
I would rather pay the retarded $2500 MSRP for a thinkpad/elitebook/latitude than $1500 for a comparable macbook simply out of principle, but I don't even have to do that if I can easily find them new for $1000. I'll take the battery life hit for something that will last, fuck your planned obsolescence and consumerism.
I appreciate the technical details but I've used the 2018 air for 4 (four) years before upgrading to this one and didn't have any issues with it, apart from
>inarguably shit keyboard which they replaced for free after admitting the fault
>ventura making it borderline unusable with all that BLOAT forcing me to stay on mojave
It's not perfect but it's a great mobile computer.
ThinkPad T440p got the same kind of battery life when the battery was fresh.
Maybe, but it's nowhere near as powerful and it's almost twice as heavy I think.
ARM is pretty crazy at power efficiency. I think Apple made a good decision when it comes to portables.
On the other hand, I do still wonder if it was the right choice to move their desktops (especially their pro workstation systems), where power consumption is not as important as performance, from x86_64 to ARM so soon.
>ARM is pretty crazy at power efficiency
OHNONONONONONONO HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>ARMTODDLER STATUS: IRREVOCABLY BTFO
Nice graph you got there, now show me a laptop that actually compares in terms of battery life. The efficiency of the cpu itself doesn't matter if the entire system is shit.
It's not that, you retard. x86 CPUs have comparatively huge out-of-core consumption, because AMD and Intel are retarded. That has nothing to do with the CPU architecture. Laptops have separate package power and CPU core power usage sensors, if you compare a Ryzen to an M2 you'll see the CPU cores are the same, but the Ryzen ALWAYS has a total package power of like 3W while the M2 can go under 1W. I'm not sure how much this can be lowered without going full integrated cuckbook, maybe it can't at all.
God I want to see someone go to AMD for a highly integrated semicustom SoC and destroy the ARM meme forever. Microshit should make another semicustom Ryzen Surface Laptop already for fuck's sake, fuck Qualcomm.
I think it's a good decision since it forces the devs to rewrite their software cause more and more Mac users will own ARM systems. The sooner the better.

youre in the wrong nagger. dell makes the chinkies laptops.
Make up your mind honestly
I have a 16" M1 Pro
Using firefox, on low power mode, wireless earphones for audio, and low-screen brightness I get 20 hours
how do you guys pronounce ARM
do you say A-R-M or just arm
ah-rum
this is only if you use safari, and safari sucks ass when it comes to adblock.. so no thanks
also macos sucks ass
>over 10 hours of screen and still at 30%. What the fuck.
Cool, same as my 2019 thinkpad
call me when i can install gentoo on it
DId OP notice?
>things PCs did over a decade ago
>but inaggers are impressed because currynaggers at one infinite loo finally caught up
yeah they last like 8hrs with the massive extension and crippled internal battery. M-series MacBooks are far better than you can imagine, plebe
to be fair the t470 has a huge battery upto 90Wh if I remember right while the macbook only has 50Wh. The macbook is the more efficient device its sucks that AMD or Intel can't compete.
I don't want to pay 4k$ for good specs on a pro though.
> screen on usage
why is there no option to display that on linux? KDE energy monitor is really shitty..
If Apple devices weren't marked up 50% over here I may go for one, but right now a 16GB M2 Pro 14" MBP is $2995, while Apple shows them at $1999, and we do not have American wages, far from it.
If I ever have money raining down on me, I'll switch, but it's not economically viable right now.
