This is such a bullshit argument. People avoid doing illegal things and if something is illegal they are unlikely to talk about it and promote it like they do now.

God made marriage when He separated Women from Men, this is common sense, not to mention fair.

why not? we do it for weed and parking and all sorts of strange stuff, it would also make society more interesting

        >we do it for weed
And that worked wonderfully! There are more deaths to overdoses every year, more revenue for drug cartels, more people losing their fathers! Genius solution! Make society worse because it will be "more interesting"!

          Anonymous

yes, ordinary people except for degenerates largely abstained from weed until it was culturally acceptable again. The purpose of a law is to punish lawbreakers and through this method civilize the populace. It is already a disgusting habit (adultery/ "cheating") that everyone looks down upon, if we declare a start date of criminalization i'm sure we could get the death penalty instituted without much pushback. As for fornication (premarital), we will make it a law for them to marry. This in itself is enough punishment to give kids sense and wait. People naturally flow to the line, this has resulted in a corrupt society. Raising the bar is historically and practically achievable. Also i'm not sure if you can overdose from weed, but that sounds really funny. I've been told to avoid it for the sake of avoiding schizophrenia.

Yes, but what if it were illegal? How might society improve?

By all accounts cheating should be a crime since
            >It causes terrible psychological damage, in some cases even suicide
            >Relationships are expensive and being cheated means you wasted money on a false pretense
No reason this should not be a crime if you can get sued for verbally abusing or scamming someone

It has historically been and it biblically warrants the death penalty (Leviticus 20:10)

Some even say the New Testament passage of Jesus revoking it is apocryphal
Either way even if you can't stone them, it says nothing about jail time or a huge fine to compensate the victim

            >some say
? the Gospel is clear as day, the ceremonial laws which were a metaphor for the gospel were done away with (sacrifice of lambs with the coming of the Lamb, Christ who is our Sabbath, circumcision = metaphor for spiritual circumcision), the moral law all stayed ("For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.")

There is a passage where he tells people not to stone a woman but it's authenticity has been debated
            >https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_and_the_woman_taken_in_adultery
I think most English versions leave it out and the Catholic version has an asterisk about it being possibly a later invention
Even if true he is still tells her to stop sinning so clearly it's still wrong

            Anonymous

again the gospels are crystal clear, the men wanted Jesus to say something before them so that they could accuse Him, (similar to when He is asked if they should pay taxes). If he says "yes" they would kill the woman and He would be arrested by the romans for going against the law, if He said "no" He would be going against the Word of God. So by saying "Let he without sin cast the first stone" He is telling them to follow the law and not being accused to the romans (similar to His answer with the tax question) effectively beathing their catch-22. That woman should have been stoned under the law, Christ ignores the scene largely and after the men fail to kill her
            >8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

            >9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

            >10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
The Lord has mercy upon her, but this is largely a side effect of Him beating their challenge. Her accusers leaving (no one would be put to death without at least 2 witnesses) means she is spared.
            >11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

            >12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
It might be easy for a false prophet to reinterpret "Neither will I condemn thee" as "Adultery is okay" but that was not the point of the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ
            John 3:17
            >For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
The Word of God hasn't changed since it was written, catholics like to take credit for this one way or another, they're fools. This is God keeping His promise.

We should make speeding illegal so that everyone drives the speed limit.

If there were no speed limits everyone would just be going as fast as they could. Speed limits clearly effect behavior. Most people probably break the speed limit, but the amount is restricted by knowledge of more stringent punishments and the lack of ambiguity and expectation of leeway when going 40 over as compared to 2 over.

No, they'd teach in driver's ed that you should go about 70 or 80 on a superhighway, 55 on an empty but paved country street, 35 unpaved and city, 25 residential. Wackos would go faster but die.

If I could change anything about society it would be banning pre/extramarital sex. I mean marriage in the literal sense too so obviously that also bans trans and gay relationships. Society would be greatly improved in only ten years following this simple change. There's nothing good about pre and extra marital sex. Only bad people like it. Don't even bother wasting a prison cell on them. Hang them from the nearest sturdy object once discovered.
