      Great work boys, thread over.
For real though, this is the answer. They start a bunch of projects that live in perpetual alpha or beta if they're lucky, then once they never leave alpha/beta status, they assume nobody cares about it and kill it.
Ads keep the money flowing in and search dominance means that shit is locked down. They also have managed to keep Android around, I assume because it's simply too big to kill off, but they certainly seem like they're trying to kill it.
They need to fire Pitchai and organise themselves to stick with projects they create and see them through to at least a releasable state.

Android being open source is what keeps it around.

boring answer: the shareholders of google are paid the profits as dividends, part of it may be invested into research or just passive income sources for the company.

      Google doesn't pay dividends.

it astonishes me what absolute cucks most investors are. It's their money and they're mostly content to let companies just sit on it or blow it on retarded "moonshot" bullshit instead of paying it out to them, the owners.

          Anonymous

Fuck off. When you invest, you agree to the company's terms. People who invest in Google are giving them resources to pursue their vision, and are willing to wait. You are not entitled to fuck-all. If you want quick money invest in Amazon or some other tradco.

            >>Fuck off. When you invest, you agree to the company's terms.
You're one of the cucks I'm talking about anon. When you buy the shares, you're an owner. Those profits belong to you. And then management just says "nah, you can't have em, we know best" and you just say "okay". You literally are entitled to the profits. You own them.
            >Amazon
kek, I will never buy any of the FAGMAN/Magnificent Seven companies

If a corporation pays dividends they have no business being invested in. They're literally admitting they have market saturation and can't think of anything productive to do with the money... and giving it back.

Google would be better off burning the money than paying dividends, even though their lifecycle is at the point where they shouldn't care.

giving my money back to me is more productive for me
the more earnings are retained the more management is bilking the shareholders

        Wait, why?
Google is breaking the formula as usual. But where is all of this money going then? Have they really never paid any dividends? How could the founders afford to buy islands?

A lot of it is in cash, according to their current assets. Yet more is in "assets" but I don't have that breakdown handy.

It's a product. 3rd parties like HP and Lenovo produce the actual hardware, and Google develops the OS. I'd choose a Macbook every day of the week, but if you're really poor and don't care about control, privacy, or storage a Chromebook is an option.
