"Wobbly windows" isn't a vsync thing, you imbecile, it's a visual effect.

If you're going to complain about Linux then at least complain about things that are real issues, like screen sharing/remote desktop on wayland, or HDR.

windows has the super annoying feature that if you shake a window, all the other windows minimize to desktop

Lmao this. Whoever thought that was a good idea is insane. It will also sometimes happen inadvertently when simply dragging a window.

This, holy shit, how the fuck can a commercial OS fuck up something this basic, I've been getting around it by using Win+Shift+Left/Right to switch windows between monitors because the only "solution" besides this is disabling window snapping entirely

          Anonymous

I too switched to Linux, but I hope you can help me solve a dilemma I have with it. I can't seem to stick with a DE and I dont want a WM to use. It seems like all of them have a stupid quirk that I hate.

          KDE is sluggish and fat

GNOME is smooth but layout weird

XFCE is a mix match of bad themes and incoherent themes

which one have you landed on?

            Anonymous

Kde is the only one that makes sense to me, it has the most features and compatibility, it is actually very performant for what it does. As far as big DEs your only other one is Enlightenment. I guess there is cinammon too. But really only gnome and kde have kept up with the times, with gnome being more like a locked down macos setup and kde being a modern evolution of the unix common desktop environment. You could also just pick a window manager and find dock software you like.

KDE, at first I picked it because it looked more like Windows ootb than other DEs, but eventually I riced it to be more MacOS-like. Haven't really noticed any sluggishness really, it runs smoothly even on my 8th gen i5 laptop

windows has the super annoying feature that if you shake a window, all the other windows minimize to desktop

You have to shake the window quite hard for it to become focused. I have never triggered it accidentally, and I have done plenty of dragging windows around just for the hell of it since i upgraded to 144hz.

It's an accessibility thing that's not even on by default. You wiggle the mouse and the cursor grows for a second before returning to normal so it's easier to find for people whose eyes don't track well, but regular people have started enabling it because it's fun.
