ma-1 bomber jacket

hey yall so i’ve been looking into ma1s in tokyo for a while and every time i try one i feel weird. i have tried Buzz Rickson’s, Alpha Industries, Uniqlo, Avirex, at the lowest level GU and some other random brands at treasure factory and hard off. everytime i put one on i feel like i look small, tight, awkward and maybe a little plain. which is maybe weird because i’m no stranger to other military jackets. the Alpha N3B is my go to winter jacket and i feel very comfortable wearing it. part of it might have to do with it not especially meshing with the rest of my outfit that i happen to be wearing when trying it on. Anyone else ever felt this way? styling/ sizing tips?

Maybe it just ain’t yo vibe
N3B and ma-1 are very different animals.
ma-1 is your streetwear / rap guy jacket like
If you’ve tried on that many varietals and you know on a gut level they don’t work, move on, there’s lots of jackets out there don’t give up

Buy oversized, if you can get over the fact youre gonna have michelin man arms
I have 2 bombers, I wear an XL t-shirt because i have a really long torso and wide shoulders, the bombers i own are 3XL and 2XL respectively because the natural hip hugging of bombers looks hecking stupid on me
so if you want a "big and comfy" look with this style of jacket, like , you wanna try on oversized so you can get the body length past the hip

I personally like this rebranding of Fostex, it’s not the Fostex of old, just someone using the name to license bombers but they keep the famous camo patterns alive
https://fostex.eu/ (https://mil-fmcd.jp/ cheaper japanese storefront, less options, ordered from both, they ship globally just gotta wait a week or two)
I own two of their relaxed size ones, L and XL, theyre big and comfy and the sleeves arent too long (i’m 5’10), but like i said, michelin man sleeves because theyre padded and lined, if you want something less poofier you go for unlined/padded

They’re short and very puffy, creating a round silhouette, especially when zipped up. They work best when worn a bit oversized, and IMO don’t combine that well with tighter fitting pants. Last time they were popular, a lot of people still wore skinny jeans and I constantly saw dudes with popsicle shaped silhouettes: skinny legs with a big skippy ball shape on top. So don’t do that.

They aren’t on trend in tokyo. If you’re talking about sukajan that’s a completely different style. M51 fishtail are much more current tokyo style. Bombers have rarely had any success in Japan in general just because people would rather wear sukajan.
Btw techwear gays are never on trend regardless of their country

no, it really isn’t. they had a trend cycle when they appeared as surplus. they had one around the 80s. then they had one around 10 years back.
they have never been beyond trend cycles.
just because you bomber gays sucked each other’s dicks on instagram for years doesn’t make them a staple piece.
they could become one – they haven’t yet.
tell me why it makes sense for someone that does not like a jacket to force himself to wear it.

bombers can easily be a staple piece as long they actually fit you the way they’re supposed to and are paired with the right items as opposed to the 2016 alpha industries/sex core way

lmao, never has a chain of words triggered such a niche memory of a type of guy that no longer exists.

if that is true you/he still said they do not like it.
        also, they’re kind of mid.
if it’s cold enough to wear one it’s cold enough to be inconvenienced by their lack of a proper collar.
        and their pockets suck.

my definition of a staple would be something that is just popular all the time and is above trend cycles.
(though it might interact with trend cycles. jeans became a staple item but within that there are trends like skinnies, high-waist etc.)

bombers were huge about… 10 years back?
but after a few years they mostly disappeared back to where they were before that trend.
only three kinds of people continued to wear them.
*the old cunts who were wearing them from before.
            *poorfags.
*guys who think they’re into fashion because they continued to gas each other up with instagram pictures.

            everyone else moved on.

Your opinion is not fact and if you tailor your wardrobe around streetwear, a bomber is absolutely a staple. Maybe not for someone who dresses in western wear but if you live in the city is a necessity.

          you are clueless
balenciaga, various korean designers and the likes are pushing oversized bombers hard, pulling from eurotrash/techno aesthetic
          >tell me why it makes sense for someone that does not like a jacket to force himself to wear it.
no one is forcing you to wear anything stupid, people are just correcting your nonsense

green bomber jackets in asia are for women. Matilda from Leon has made it a female item. you cannot pull it off a male in asia. i could expand on this but that is enough. it is spiritually female.

fuuuuuck. I was in Japan not so long ago and bought a buzz rickson sage green ma-1 from junky special, I didn’t realize I looked like a gay to them. I wanted the grayer one but I couldn’t find it

no it just looks better on women because you’re attracted to women that wear male pieces to extenuates their femininity

I have a green leather jacket that I got as a present a few years ago, haven’t worn it out properly yet as it I can’t seem to get rid of the new leather smell and it just looks too clean. Any tips on weathering it?
