LTSC wins.

Finally switched from win7 to 2019 enterprise LTSC.
>i put a new m.2 SSD for my C: drive
>disabled updates, plan to debloat it even more
>startup 21s, shutdown 4.5s, restart 26s, wakeup from sleep 7s
>ram consumption at idle: 1.9gb (plan to debloat it more)
>firefox with a few tabs open consumes only 200-400mb ram (used to consume 3.0GB on win7)

holy shit, everything just works...and its fast as hell. imagine waking up from sleep in 7s and the desktop loads on the second, everything just fucking works.

on the old win7 i had to wait for "programs need to close teehee" this thing shuts down in 4.5s
a man gotta admit when hes retarded

I have a 12 core CPU and 2019 LTSC has lousy thread scheduling since it was wasn’t designed for high score counts.

Windows has been fine for core counts up to 512 or 1024 (can't remember which) since Windows 8.
In 1903, they added extra code to handle pseudo-NUMA architectures like Zen - that's where your benefit comes from.

    >sees the better world he wants to build
this is the core issue with the bloomer mentality and the delusion that others are unable to maintain.
there is no such thing and deep down you know it. even those improvements to the world that are "obviously" good in the mid-term always have a future cost associated with them in the long-term. for instance, any type of social or technological optimization creates space for more future growth, which *will* eventually be filled, leading to humanity as a whole running into further issues down the line as the existing systems reach their capacities.

our species is a breeding of suffering. there is no greater purpose that is worthwhile. we will never truly leave this fucking rock and every improvement will accelerate us further to a point where we must suffer again.
there are only three options to cope with this: you can delude yourself into ignoring long-term consequences and make mid-term goals your purpose, you can create an artificial greater purpose out of thin air (like fulfilling god's plan), or you can choose to accept that there is no greater purpose and that you must live your life without one, effectively ignoring one of your basic needs.

        >nihilism in regards to a greater purpose is only for teenagers
when you get older, you'll long for a purpose again and will struggle to find it. this type of dread is cyclical. you experience it when you're young, then disregard it as silly on the basis of the belief that the purpose in life is to create your own, and then as you get older and everyday life sets in, the dread returns, because ignoring basic needs always comes back to bite you eventually. you might then join the camp that disregards purpose altogether with the only goal of making happy juice flow, only to then start doubting yourself again a decade or two down the line.

It's Enterprise with an empty C:Program FilesWindowsApps folder.
That's literally all it is on the software front. However, it has a different support/update policy (10 years instead of 2 or 3).

i think there is some removed...telemetry or bloat...but im not sure. Im just dabbling into windows 10 for the first time.

you definetly dont want the indians from microsoft having access to screenshots and key-strokes from your desktop knowing your crypto passwords and such.

      thats the problem.
      windows 7 used to use...1.5g
then...i got fooled to install some updates (not even all of them) and now my win7 memory-hogs like 11g ram and doesnt want to release it.

at this point win10 is lighter....and it doesnt hog memory.

      for fuck sake.

          I didn't get that - I got this.
But mine's cheating, because it's a VM - Windows detects that and turns off a lot of caching (knowing the host OS has caches).
