>LOTR movies came out long before collector figures really got good
>Far too old for Japanese companies to consider doing them
>Last attempt was the OK-at-best Diamond figures
>Rings of Power and Gollum basically killed the franchise as a whole stone dead
>Stuck with the godawful ToyBiz figures for most of the cast
What a wretched timeline.
I have read the hobbit and watched the movies. I genuinely don't understand why you love lord of the rings. I think its overhyped because it inspired DND and the whole fantasy genre, but other than the overlord anime I really don't care about it.
I think its overhyped. I think you should just buy the bst axn.
Ontop of this I just don't think its toyetic. Toyetic now focuses around technology, energy effects, and superheroes. No one makes medieval toys anymore (except ninjas)
this thing makes me suicidal
I don't like lotr, but I like Norse mythology. This is how they teched out my boy to make him toyetic
This is what 2023 lotr would be
At least they kept the hammer and hair
>No one makes medieval toys
Hasbro D&D
NECA D&D
Mythic Legions
Savage Crucible
Vitruvian Hacks
Figma Thorfinn
Figma Eivor
Every Fate Figma
Every Zelda figure
MOTU (also has sci-fi, but I digress)
Palm Empire
There are definitely more individual figures that I am forgetting, but I think 9 lines and two individual figures are enough to dispel your assertion that no one makes mediaeval figures anymore.
None of these are as successful as turtles, GI Joe, power rangers, marvel or DC. They are all small niche lines, that either have only a few releases, failed at retail, or only can be bought online.
Believe it or not, I know what I'm talking about. People right now want superheroes and robots. They don't want gay larpers.
The assertion wasn't that they aren't as big as these billion dollar franchises you listed.
It was, specifically:
>No one makes medieval toys anymore (except ninjas)
Wrong.
Cope and seethe.
Yeah but all of that aside from a few figma links is dogshit I guess astolfo is cool too
>I genuinely don't understand why you love lord of the rings
Get ye gone golem
>Rings of Power and Gollum basically killed the franchise
How did Gollum "kill the franchise"?
The Toy Biz line was actually really good. The DST figures are not bad as you said, but I'd be shocked if we get many more releases. DST Boromir and Lurtz are arriving soon according to BBTS today, so I'm stoked for those.
>I think you should just buy the bst axn.
Crap. I bought a few, scale is absolute dogshit with Sauron literally smaller than Gandalf. The faces were not great but passable, but they seen to have abandoned the license already. They aren't bad as childrens toys OR if you just want a single figure, but the scale ruins it.
>How did Gollum "kill the franchise"?
Because it was the second poorly-made colossal flop using the IP in a very short space of time (after RoP). A double-whammy of product that bad isn't gonna do a franchise any favours at all.
And yet something like Star Wars still chugs along despite that.
Personally I think the issue is the franchise just doesn't have enough "exciting" material to work with. Outside of the hardcore nerds nobody really gives a shit about anything and anyone outside of the fellowship trilogy.
Medieval fans don't even buy toys. They buy swords if they like history, and if they like fantasy they play MTG or dnd
I know right? Nobody buy toys, people who watch anime don't buy toys, gamers don't buy toys! Honestly I don't know why they make toys
>And yet something like Star Wars still chugs along despite that.
An IP like Star Wars should be able to do a hell of a lot better than just "chugging along".
I don't disagree with you. Frankly I think the franchise has been mishandled even since its inception.
Again, I don't know what you're talking about. Did they make a Gollum show or something?
No, it was an awful, awful videogame that came out not too long ago. I'm surprised you didn't hear about it.
I stopped playing modern video games after that SpiderMan game that forced an update that put pride flags everywhere.
Imagine play a video game with a main character that is an Afro-latinix and wondering what could go wrong
You played yourself man
You should have stopped when call of duty Cold War added “non binary” option for players
>Imagine play a video game with a main character that is an Afro-latinix and wondering what could go wrong
Hey, dumbass, that was the PETER PARKER version. There's been more than one Spider-Man video game you stupid Zoomer. The fact I said Spider-Man should have been your FIRST clue, and the fact your rotted brain thought of Miles Morales first speaks volumes about YOU.
LULZ here
If you see The Spiderverse movies you’ll see that Miles Morales is the one true Spider-man across the MULTIVERSE
Peter Parker willingly lets his family die
The only spiderman that's real was made by Steve ditko and Todd mcfarlane.
Peter Parker was an evil piece of shit long before the little spigger hit the scene, anon.
>LULZ here
How the mighty have fallen.
IMMA DO MUH OWN THING
My bad. Reading about it and looking into it I thought it’s the same morales shit.
That was bad blow then.
You got tricked by a familiar ip, if anything.
I relate to that.
You don’t have to watch woke shit
Tolkien would utterly despise LOTR toys of any quality and pretty much everything they did with his work.
>that SpiderMan game that forced an update that put pride flags everywhere.
HAHAHAHAHA HOLY SHIT
Tolkien was a grumpy old guy. He'd despise us reading his books today.
I really don't see what's great about fantasy. The only recent hit has been game of thrones. There's a lot of isekai anime but isekai other than konosuba never took off. Even konosuba is only liked by a few western otakus.
>but DND
Failed at box office and toy shelves. It became abundantly clear DND is enjoyed by a very small group of nerds.
I'm also sure most people don't care enough to setup a full play session, table/board/ pieces etc. My dad can watch any superhero movie he wants through Netflix, but no way in a thousand years would he DM or participate in a DND campaign.
The effect Tolkien had on our culture is greatly exaggerated.
The one thing I'll admit is the movies are beautifully shot and Tolkien is great at writing, but his influence really is very small.
>I think its overhyped
nobody cares what you think
Been a while since I've seen a good (you) farmer post. May your harvest be bountiful.
You read and watched yet I don't think you understood a single thing. All those hours wasted, a barely conscious mind.
Sad really...
The Toy-Biz bendy-wire Gollum and super-articulated Gollum/Smeagle are still dope.
>anons all know exactly what Tolkien would be thinking
>Mass-replying homosexual
literally nothing to do with what I said you attention-seeking crybaby.
