Allan Edmonds work well. Slightly used, they are comfy asf. I dunno otherwise because I only have a pair from them and one from J. Crew that’s about dust.

They are fine I think if you work business casual or are a little older. Outdated would be too harsh a word, displaced is more reasonable. ‘Dress’ sneakers quietly have encroached on their territory.

Exactly this. I had noticed this and reached similar subconscious conclusion. Blurring of fashion lines in dressy-casual category by the CP "dress sneakers" encroachment.

Truly abominable trend of homogenization with Athleisure.

All of them are amazing, have them on rotation, just stay away from Ferragamo.

Penny, moccasin, etc, seem either outdated or gay.

Any anons know good sites or underrated quality brands that sell plain slipper type loafers?

belgian loafers are a bad start if youre too afraid to wear penny or tassel mocs. good brands are belgian shoe and baudoin & lange

    woven leather toffee leather loafers

ultimate in 80s casual summer elegance paired with beige or white cuffed and pleated linen slacks and sports coat

    Beam me back, Scotty!

Considering that most old people wear loafers bought at some bullshit store with fake leather and built like a sneaker, a proper loafer looks very good.

This might be a weird question given the narrow context you have to wear them but… where to find good Opera pumps? I mean old styled, without any kind of "tongue".

      • Anonymous says:

Seen those and while they look fine they have tongue after the ribbon. I’m looking for old styled ones, without said tongue.

Appreciated your help thought. Hope you have a good day đŸ™‚

        The shoes have arrived.
I requested a return, their size guide is quite inaccurate. They distinguish between their two lasts and tell you to buy half a size lower for their "wide lasts", the thing is that it isn’t really the case.
I hecking hate this, because I can’t even put them on. I wonder if it’s their shoes that run low on size or if half a size higher (my normal size) will fit well.

    OP you’re wrong.

If you’re afraid of penny loafers definitely don’t get tassel loafers or bit loafers.

I haven’t seen great plain ones.

Get these. Unline suede penny loafers. They don’t have the fuddy duddy old man look that American loafers do.

Loafers are kind of in right now in the fashion zeitgeist, at least NY. There’s new brand, I think called Blackstock and Weber (no experience with the brand though) that’s popular enough where LeBron has bought some pairs.
My favorite brands for loafers are Vass, Carmina, Enzo Bonafe, and Yuketen (for more classic loafers.) I like dress loafers in particular because they’re comfortable as heck within the office and I can dress them down outside of the office.

don’t care. been wearing driving-mocs and top siders for years. people will shit test you non stop for it. "wHy aREnT YoU weAriNG SoCKs??" "THosE aRE woMeNs SHoeS!" just keepin on living man. ignore brand. look for comfort above all else.

Closeted gays who can’t into business slippers are the worst. God forbid someone doesn’t wear skate shoes or boots.

Anyone else really only a fan of a chunkier/wider loafer like pic rel? I feel like those traditional slim cut ones that have been posted in this thread really only work with very slim and tight silhouettes (pls post counter example if im wrong)

With all the due respect, they’re outdated and gay if you’re poor and wearing overpriced and obnoxious plastic moron shoes in a desperate attempt to fit in with the little money you got.

Alden LHS unlined suede penny loafers are the ultimate summerish shoe, they look good with anything.

Valstarino jacket, Lardini vacation collar shirt, some high quality denim and unlined suede pennies, this is how grown ups dress, mega comfortable and literally dripping style and sprezzatura, no wonder it isn’t appreciated on this dumpster fire of a message board chock full of tryhards frothing at the mouth with nerd rage.

      Gucci is for tryhards.

Tod’s is for overweight boomers with more money than taste.

jesus lol you really have to go back

They’re uncomfortable. Never understood the logic behind them
Every man should have polo/dress/formal/work shirts with nice collar, proper trousers(preferably pleated), and leather/suede footwear.
Attire is simply a tool at the end of the day, even for casual environments.
Anyone who deviates too far from classic fashion to "express themselves" has low test.

      >loafer

      sock or no sock?

Its purpose is to protect the shoe.

all of them are gay you’d be better off with hecking gym shower room flip flops

only gay Black folk wear that gay shit wtf are you doing

It’s worth finding that decent loafer. Problem is that most people have shit taste. The replies here are proof of that. Now remembered why I don’t lurk here often

      Moreschi

      Nice. Thanks anon

I’m definitely in the minority on this but I think Loafers look hecking disgusting and don’t "go" with any fit. Any fit with loafers can be improved by wearing something other than loafers.

    • Anonymous says:

Cope harder loafer tard. On half the fits I’ve seen loafers in, chelsea boots would make the fit ten times better.

This.^ Leather loafers in black and brown are essential Staples of men’s dressy-casual wardrobe. They have been displaced in recent years by so-called dressy (

Thoughts on slotting actual pennies into penny loafer slit thingies? Is it gay, a mere fad, or something?

I need 43 but they only sell 42 here in women’s, so I can’t pull that trick but if you’re small you can get the lady’s.

    I got these Tod’s.

Church’s had a series with Oxfords and Chelsea boots and a sneaker all with the sneaker sole.
