Excel is just unmatched. I don't understand why there isn't a viable open source alternative. Libre Calc is awful. It's like a shitty version of Office 97.
>cause nerds don't use excel
nigga what
I literally have like 50 excel sheets where I organize various aspects of my life and personal projects
some of them are mini-programs with complex VBA scripting
I installed Excel 2010 yesterday because it's the last version that feels right. Probably the last version coded by competent White people.
You can even install Power Query on it.
If you actually need datamunging features, importing a csv or XLSX into pandas running in a notebook is 10x better than excel. If you just need a word processor but a grid, Google sheets is fine.

the closest one available is google sheets, but it is too basic
Yeah, I don't know how anyone could switch from Excel to Sheets in a professional environment. I've heard of some companies doing that.
>Excel is just unmatched.
Until you use something that's actually designed for data like R
I just use Alteryx if I'm dealing with that much data.
cause nerds don't use excel
only managers use excel but managers don't code

>no open source alternative that doesn't suck
Well, the alternatives imitate something that sucks, so this outcome is to be expected.
which version doesn't have telemetry?
I'm assuming Office 365 is for glowies
is Office 2019 ok? or should you go older?
1.5 on a Macintosh Plus was peak Excel. It was all downhill from there.

Markdown+pandoc also works for presentations too
Now compete with this, ningen.

I can't view that link without enabling untrusted JavaScript to run on my system, sorry.
OnlyOffice is quite good for 99% of what people do with Office 365 anyway.
For the other 1% there's no alternative to Excel.
Libre office is fine. You say it sucks because excel is just great. Literally everything in the suite matches office fine except for calc vs excel.
It's either retards abusing Excel or plugins that are only written for it.
What's the best way to run Excel 2016/19/21 on Linux. Wine? Cassowary?
wine works fine
Last version to work ootb seems to be 2010
