Who here wants to read War and Peace together with me? I'm on chapter 6 right now. Andrei just redpilled Pierre about the vileness of marriage.

We already did that last year’s summer, a shame you missed it but I’m not re-reading w&p
pretty sure those threads fizzled out pretty rapidly, didnt they?
Idk what to tell you, they lasted for several weeks at least
Of course they grew rarer and most people probably didn’t stick to schedule (I didn’t) but it was still a fun experience to read a book (and such a good book) while knowing that the anons were reading it too, and discussing with them on the dedicated threads
Would certainly do it again
Aaaaaah! I wanna but have to much on my reading list and I’m here scrolling on LULZ instead of reading- AAAAAAAAAGH!
>I wanna but have to much on my reading list
Nigga, I'm reading War and Peace, Musashi, The Count of Monte Cristo and In Search of Lost Time all at the same time. We never know what will happen to us tomorrow, better start now than never starting at all.
Same. Can't hold my attention. I just get bored reading a single book but then I try reading multiple and not finish any of them. It sucks
bruh i thought this book was by Jane Austen, how yall remember this shit damn...
i can do it. i need a new book to read before sleep time, and i've had it sitting on my shelf for a long time. i tried it a while ago but was too intimidated by all the french tbh.
>but was too intimidated by all the french tbh.
if you can, it might be nice to get your hands on the briggs translation. all french is translated on the page
sounds convenient, i'll look into that. thanks
the french paragrahps are really fucking annoying
I'm confused about some stuff on chapter 5. Is it implied that Lisa and Ippolit are having an affair? They were flirting right in front of Andrei or is it just foreshadowing or it just doesn't mean anything at all?
women are whores, at least back in those enlightened times they could be honor killed
How was that implied? I'm pretty sure he dedicated like 2 paragraphs just to show how uncomfortable she was. It was 100% to develop hippolytes character as a playboy and the relationship between the bolonski's.
no, i can't. how have finished this book already
What’s the best translation for War and Peace? I’ve heard Maude translation was the best, but I’m still unsure.
Post examples. Imo, translations generally don't matter too much, as the substance will still be delivered to the reader, and I doubt that a professional translation would butcher the text so that it won't.
t.Russian
Reading it right now. It gets even better. I just hit 1812
