Lets play what ifs, if russia invaded Ukraine in 3-15 days successfully. What 3 countries do you think they would have invaded next, Finland, Switzerland, and Moldova while on the blitzkrieg attempt? Imagine some tranner’s bf getting conscripted to fight Russia in Finland. I guess tranner’s in the nordic countries would be getting easy diy hrt.

Any 3 countries outside of nato

none. they need the choke point to defend belarus and prevent a NATO sweep of the steppe, as well as to secure ukraine's shale and oil reserves to maintain their monopoly in europe. They also need to open that canal to supply crimea with water and maintain a grip on their only warm water port. their population is declining fast so they cant go haemorraging people on world conquest, but their population is declining fast so they cant afford to wait and do this later. their losses would be proportionally more severe, the costs would be higher and the benefits less (europe 100% renewable by 2050)

Do you think so? You think Russia is operating off of wise rational policy?

        Anonymous

wise? clearly not. rational? maybe? i think there's an internal logic at least

They’re already haemorraging mass amounts of people from this shit. A literal brain drain

now imagine doing it with 20% fewer people to throw into the grinder, a lower GDP and only 10 years of profit to extract instead of nearly 30. it really is now or never. doubly so if ukraine had joined NATO

grand plan? their economy collapses without oil exports. its a bandaid solution for a government too prideful to give up its cold war larping and westernize

Now imagine a Russia not scapegoating Nato+ becoming a dictatorship and instead having true open elections + joining the EU.

...doesnt the EU demand that you be democratic?

Not yet, the collapse is occuring over 2-4 years though. Bad gdp contraction the first year. It’ll be back to ussr gdp by 4 years though.

only because they're inept. if they had won in three weeks who was going to seriously press the issue? maybe the scandinavians would bail to nato but who is going to oppose them over some irrelevent patch of eastern european dirt?

Probably none because Ukraine is enough for Putin's purposes (muh glory and Ukraine is true russian soil, also what said) and after the sanctions which hit harder than they expected they probably wanted to they probably wouldn't want to try for even more sanctions. Moldova, south georgia ect are too poor and irrelevant for russia atm. Invading NATO = nuclear winter which is bad for the economy. I'll also add that true non-corrupt democratic Ukraine, which is what was happening more and more in recent years, is a direct threat ideologically to Putin's autocracy. If Russians see that a culture that is, according to state propaganda, identical to theirs flourishing under a democracy, people might get the wrong idea and the propaganda machine becomes more difficult.

Finland and moldova is true russian soil by Putin’s/ussr’s 2.0 standards. They’ve attempted to invade finland in the past and it wouldn’t be far fetched for some autocracy to try it again if ukraine went extremely well. This war is causing Russians with half a brain and cash to flee. You can’t even trust the polls or say your opinions in Russia anymore. Economically russia is heading to ussr/north korea levels. Propaganda machine is already broken, it's just the military and militarized police keeping up the oppression just like during the ussr. You see concerts in russia with people saying fuck the war. It is atrocious.

moldova next at least an offical annexation of Transnistria finaly. and absoloutely theybwould annex belarus since they basicly already have it in their pocket. and next the baltics, likely estonia first due to it's proximity to finland, but they likely want the full set. honestly I have a feeling theyre just glueing the USSR back together and there arent any grand plans to invade the EU or whatever. that said ofc the only party that want to get the band back tofether is russia, pretty much every other ex-soviet republic got a raw deal and they dont want to get back with the abusive husband that is moscow
