Led Zeppelin is the greatest band ever

Imagine buying this record in 1969, throwing it on your turntable, smoking a joint and listening to it for the first time.
Your fucking head would explode, by the middle section of Whole Lotta Love you'd creaming your fucking pants.
That's what people who have the audacity to call bands like Zeppelin overrated can't understand.
Fucking Fantano-brain fried retards who feel the need to rate music in an objective way for no reason and can't form an emotional attachment to music outside of seeing it as a fashion accessory.

Yeah, I love this band as much as the next guy, but when dope retards like that come in I wonder if I made a mistake somewhere.

But then again, we have the whole /x/ filled with rehabs and brainlets talking about how they "figured it all out". Can't have a culture without naggers shitting on a front porch i suppose.

Sabbath and Zeppelin are equals and they equally mog the shit out of the Who, Cream, the Kinks, Deep Purple, the Rolling Stones, The Doors, etc
TVU was playing a different game with their uncompromising experimentation, they are more comparable to Captain Beefheart or Red Krayola or Can than a proper hard rock band

I went to a Who concert a few years ago. At least half the audience, probably more, were gen X or younger.

I saw them live a year or two ago and it was a decent show and all (didn't help that I just got into Its Hard and there was no chance they were playing Athena) but then Won't Get Fooled Again comes on and I'm groaning expecting the scream to be botched and then the section comes my eyes and ears are taped open and then the bridge finally comes and screams near perfectly, I was so blown away I was convinced he lip singed that part. Also when comparing Who to Zeppelin its kinda difficult cause Zeppelin is a guitar band and the Who has a lot less memorable or standout riffs, they make good songs just with guitar as a backdrop

.... I never fucking understood how you've been able to compare zeppelins to sabbath or deep purple, you have to be tone deaf. Led Zeppelin is literally a more metal counterpart to Rolling Stones who are rock and roll blues country.

Sabbath and deep purple are straight up metal, they are 10 times closer to something like slayer or iron maiden than zeppelin. Those two groups literally an impersonation of two genres in metal, while zeppelins is not even there. Deep purple would be along the lines of speed metal like iron maiden. The Sabbath on the other hand are the origins of straight up heavy metal which zeppelin barely are. Both sabbath and deep purple have a clear theme and direction, only rarely doing something different while Zeppelin is all over the place, which again shows how little they have in common.

Led zeppelins and rolling stones had even collaborated in some regards, in music and otherwise, which again shows that they were literally on the same level if not competing for the same place. Also, one of; the who guys has crashed into their show at some point, which is ironic since the who might be very much like led zeppelins, only that zeppelins has completely mogged them on every possible level which is why that manlet Townshend will be seething about it even in his grave. Turns out the who members were not even good friends if that, which is a miracle considering that what they produced musically was not even half bad, but at the end of the day, this is exactly why they feel so shallow in comparisions.

Zeppelin, Sabbath and Purple uage a history of being grouped together because they were founded in the same year, ams all 3 were pioneering a heavier hard rock sound that would eventually become metal.

I agree that Zeppelin are by far the least heavy of the 3, but all 3 bands shared the same space at the start so it's easy to compare them.

            Anonymous

Deep purple isn't that heavy or fast; sabbath will always be far and away the heaviest of the well known 70s bands

Also, I don't think Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones are that similar, the Stones played the blues much more like actual bluesmen, they never had the same bombastic riff-focused songwriting that Zeppelin pioneered. They weren't known for longer, more progressive "epic" songs either, while many of the most famous LZ tunes are well over 6 minutes long.

              >Deep purple isn't that heavy or fast
Heavy, yes. But Deep Purple at their peak in the early 70s were the fastest rock band on earth. Listen to their live versions of Highway Star and Space Truckin'

well neither the kinks nor the doors are underdogs, despite my general agreement with you.
the kinks made good music, and competent musicians. The doors made great art and were far above midling midwits as players.

zepplin has an unrivalled flourish of utterly laid back subtley and technique and ball grabbing bombast. well doors have more bombast - but only if we take the whole package into account
