      We're so back

Cat and mouse game. And google is one powerful cat.
Realistically, ad blockers only ever worked because big tech tolerated them. Now that google wants them gone, they aren't going to be viable for much longer.

You realise there are much easier ways to get around Google's blocking than updating uBO all the time right? Why are you wasting your time with this?

The anti-adblock message only appears, if you're logged in.

How many hours do I have to watch in one day while logged in before the anti-adblock message shows up?

Also to respond to what you said:
      >ad blockers only ever worked because big tech tolerated them. Now that google wants them gone, they aren't going to be viable for much longer.
As long as the videos are served over HTTP, surely it always be possible to send whatever requests are necessary for Google to give you the video. E.g. maybe the request has to send some JSON with `wereAdsWatched` set to `true`.

Again, it's a cat and mouse game right? Google could change their back-end to require different types of request (but I don't think they do change it, to be honest), but then you change your requests to whatever they now require. And their client JS will even tell you what requests you need to send.

Let them struggle with extensions, fucking retard. Teaching people about the good stuff is the best way to ensure its death.

Point out the part where I mentioned an alternative you fucking retard.

actually all google has to do to win this is add any form of drm to youtube streams, it doesn't matter how easy to break that drm is just needs to be added and then they can issue takedowns for any software that lets people download their videos with an alternative method

          *they can try

Twitch's anti-adblock is much better. Google can easily make a better one, but i think at the moment they're just weeding out the lazies that will not bother to purge all caches

Twitch has the advantage of the content being livestreamed so they can just inject the ad into the livestream and the adblocker cant tell. youtube would have to literally edit the vids to splice ads into them. even then because it's not a livestream, adblockers could use AI to tell an ad has come on, and skip until it's over. there's no skipping in a livestream.

back on the subject of uBO, is there a way to get it to auto update more frequently?

          Anonymous

Google CANNOT do anything as long as the videos are actually loaded client side. And considering how being a good and fast is important for youtube, i think that's unlikely to change anytime soon. Youtube allows better free seek and is much faster than twitch's video serving, because it can't embed ads in the video data.

And the solution to it exists already: SponsorBlock

Being big can make you less reactive... You can't carelessly make changes and break stuff for millions of users. The real threat here is forcing accounts. That would suck ass and break invidious too. But they'll loose a big chunk of people, so they might not want to do that

Now imagine the powerful cat is now 18 years old with arthritis, declawed by its new owners, partially death, and it's on meds for kidney failure. I'd rather put my money on the 50000 mice doing it for free

If Google wanted them gone they'd be doing this everywhere, but it's just Youtube, the most retarded and incompetent branch of Google.

fake, haven't seen single ad from them for more than half a year, use invidious, use piped, stop going to the platform if these fail, simple as

      >muh recommendations
      you don't need that
      >muh comments
      you don't need that

bonus: sanitization of the awful short video format by displaying them as regular videos instead of the brain rotting tiktok format

Add sponsorblock, remove recommendations, videos from the front page, related videos and finally youtube is minimally tolerable to use

Stop using YouTube. That's the solution. At least, don't use the official YouTube site. Use Piped or Invidious, yt-dlp, mpv, etc. The experience is worlds better.

    >It simply gets the info of the latest YT script ID solved by uBlock Origin and compares it against the latest YouTube Anti-Adblocker script ID.
So it doesn't actually test if the latest uBlock Origin script doesn't beat the latest Anti-Adblocker script, it just checks that there is a matched ID.
So uBlock could be blocking it just fine, but it will say "No" because there is no ID match.

    There are three options:
    >A) update ublock filters multiple times per day
    >B) buy youtube premium
    >C) just log out
For some reason techlets on LULZ rather choose A than simply not having a israelitegle account and not being spied on

      Anonymous

      There is one more option.
      D) Go about your life as usual because you never see ads or the anti-adblock messages.
