yes I know, qt 6 is not a simple version bump and they dis actually end up putting tons of changes on top of that. but still I keep seeing people argue that it's NOT REALLY A BIG UPDATE, maybe because they're afraid of KDE 4.0?
Hello dumbass GNOME homosexuals, it is alpha ye fridge IQ ebussy-tards, it's the purpose of the alpha to be tested out.
The desktop will look more or less the same as 5, but it will have a fuckton of changes over 5, you just need to look over the pointieststick blog to look at all the shit they're doing.
Plus, they've been putting a shitton and more bugfixes onto the 6 release instead of a 5.27 point release, so that's that too.
I just really like the *krashes* meme. nothing against KDE, I love their apps
I don't think the meme is true in general, but I just had a funny experience that confirmed it. >open up Qt program >incredibly useful and better than most alternatives >be impressed >click the wrong thing >krashes
>gaynome finally implements a proper file picker >you have to pre-load everything in nautilus or the thumbnails don't appear
lmao
20+ years of being made fun of and they still can't do it right
GNOME currently has a bug in its latest stable muttler, that causes the whole Desktop with all open applicaitons to crach if you click on a link in a browser.
I shit you not.
And they have a bug for several versions already where the computer won't ever wake up after suspend with nvidia, or at least, the kernel won't wake up but the computer will.
It's alpha software dude, you can't expect stable quality on alpha software. The purpose of having alpha testers is to find the bugs so they can be fixed ahead of release.

The issue is that KDE have a history of not actually managing to handle their bugs correctly. there were tons of bugs in the 4.0 alpha that basically never got solved in years. and one of the reassuring talking point about 6.0 is that it would be focused on squashing bugs more than adding features, so a lot of new bugs is not promising lol
KDE 4 alpha was in 2007!
There is a good chance that you yourself are too young to remember that.
KDE 4 alpha is almost as old as the GNOME filepicker thumbnail bug.
not an argument. my point is that a very buggy alpha is not something to just hand wave with KDE. especially since it's not some sort of ground breaking release
Fuck yeah people are reporting bugs in alpha software so the devs can fix them before the final release, that's how is supposed to be not mark it wont fix like gnome, we are eating good kde chads

This is the purpose of an alpha release and it is a major success if indeed people are engaging and finding bugs.
mhmmm but people told me that plasma 6 is just a simple qt version bump
>simple qt version bump
yes I know, qt 6 is not a simple version bump and they dis actually end up putting tons of changes on top of that. but still I keep seeing people argue that it's NOT REALLY A BIG UPDATE, maybe because they're afraid of KDE 4.0?
don't look up what's the KDE logo in June
>don't look up what's the KDE logo in June
Don't tell me they homosexualized too DON'T TELL MEHHHHH !!!!

How could they ?!?!?

The changes will focus on stability, right? it thought that was their main focus currently, as they see KDE as being more or less feature complete
Contributors haven't stopped working on new features and changes. Those need testing, and can be buggy.
it is just like the version bump from kde 3.5 to kde 4 was 🙂
lol it's literally 4>5 all over again, after seeing this twice now im convinced tde made the right choice to upkeep qt3 on their own
>a simple major version upgrade
>a simple major version upgrade
Stfu chud, Plasma 6 is gonna be ki-
*krashes*
Go fix your GTK file picker shortie
>gaynome finally implements a proper file picker

lmao

It's going to be the usual bloated, crashy jank with a bigger number. Wake me up when they grow out of the w7 workflow..
>i want a tablet UI for toddlers!
Then KDE just isn't for you. You are free to buy a chromebook or a mac.
you can always spot a gnome shill because it's impossible for them to not use the "workflow" buzzword

>spike in bug reports
That's the entire purpose of an alpha version, you retard.
>alpha software has bugs
Oh no, it's joever!

if a buggy alpha means you're back then regular plasma is stable
total self own, plasma wins again

Your point was "has a history" and then you have to go back to 2007 and you still can't even name one such bug.
You are so obviously dishonest.
you're one of those people that liked that goddamn bean in the top right of the desktop aren't you?
In the past week of running Plamsa 6 alpha, i reported two bugs, both got fixed within two days, and i had some nice chats with the developers.
This is comfy as fuck. Imagine having your issues actually taken care of.
Please don't post if you have nothing to say anon.
This is why I didn't look back to GNOME. It's fucking mental that they can't figure out GNOME Tweaks should be integrated with the main project.
nice firefox setup anon but how do you insert URLs
Yeah, dont really intend to upgrade anytime soon either way.
I just really like the *krashes* meme. nothing against KDE, I love their apps
>alpha software has more bugs than stable software
>more bugs get reported
wow, call the fucking cops
What are the major differences between plasma 5 and 6? Any changes in the GUI or just a backend upgrade?
>release alpha
>people report the bugs they found
This is bad why exactly?
It just is, OK?
it's bad because you're replying to this shitpost

I am on fedora anyone know how i can test the plasma6 alpha?
>alpha
>surprised there's bugs
are you stoopid?
>update software
>make it buggy
we had DEs for how many decades now and these fools can't still write a stable one baka senpai
