It is true that going butchmode as a very young woman (18-22 or so) let me escape a lot of male attention, I even got called "sir" a few times and it closest I came to going trans because it felt so good to be seen as just a human by men instead of as something they can control or project on. I identified as a lesbian though, so rejecting ALL male attention was on the table for me in a way it isn't for straight women who still trying to find whatever decent guys. Eventually though I was forced to become feminine when I entered the workforce, ie wear womens clothes, grow out hair, and put on makeup.
And now, years later, I actually enjoy being feminine too. I never hated femininity or looking cute/pretty, I hated male attention and objectification.
