time to assemble a new computer!
*log onto PCPP, create baseline 5600/6650xt 1080p setup for $800*
>ok, i definitely want a 4k monitor for text clarity. 100ppi in 2023 is totally stupid
>hmm, i should buy a GPU that can drive that or else it's sort of a waste, right? a 6800xt should do...
>wait, i also want CUDA because that's useful(AI porn) so we'll need a 3090 for the VRAM...
>but wait, i'm already spending this much, what about 4k/144hz?
>wow, $450 for an m28u...sure that's worth it
>ok, so now I'll need to upgrade to the 4090 and 7800X3D and move to DDR5
>well, now we may as well choose the 7950X3D... it's only $300 more and it would make compilation and compression and VMs(things I don't do) so fast...
>okay, so I definitely want an efficient 80+ titanium PSU for such high-powered hardware--this $260 seasonic will do
>...and we definitely want a better case to handle cooling all of this, so we'll choose the $190 fractal torrent...
>So, what will that cost?
TOTAL: $3,700
>well, now i should upgrade to better headphones since i'm spending this much...
>4k/144hz
you have 0 need for anything above 60
Do people actually do this? You can power 4K screens on integrated graphics
You're not playing Honey Select 2 at 2160p with an iGPU.
Yes, use a 1080p GPU with a 2160p monitor.
Nigga, the UHD 630 is an iGPU that's over 5 years old and can drive a 4K panel with no issues, will you be able to play the latest consoomer goyslop in 4K? Of course not, but if you just want text clarity for productivity, it's more than enough. If such an old iGPU can handle it, a 5600XT can do it too, just set the game's internal resolution to 1080p if you wanna game
>But muh clarity
If you're actually rubbing it out to chinese cartoons you'll be too horny to tell the difference between 1080p and 2160p
ITS NOT ONLY ABOUT TEXT CLARITY
>>ok, i definitely want a 4k monitor for text clarity. 100ppi in 2023 is totally stupid
>>hmm, i should buy a GPU that can drive that or else it's sort of a waste, right? a 6800xt should do...
>ITS NOT ONLY ABOUT TEXT CLARITY
t. 1080p GPU for a 2160p monitor
Ok, you're retarded
Jokes are supposed to be funny
You literally didn't even get the OP and you're calling other people stupid. Grim.
If it was a joke people will build up on it, literally the only one doing it is the 1080p GPU on a 2160p guy, who is likely OP samefagging, plus, as far as I know, you're also probably OP samefagging, enjoy your pity (You) and have a nice day
You literally went " who needs a 4k gpu for a 4k monitor?"
and then when you realized what the joke is, you unironically rate the joke like anybody gives a shit about your retard-opinion
like, you didn't even do the math in your head that OP is talking about games. you're a clown.
>OP says text clarity
>Somehow it's retarded to assume it wasn't about games
Can we just agree that there was a misunderstanding and that the OP could have been clearer? I really don't want to keep this going lol
see
The entire joke of the OP is about upselling.
>>ok, i definitely want a 4k monitor for text clarity. 100ppi in 2023 is totally stupid
>>hmm, i should buy a GPU that can drive that or else it's sort of a waste, right? a 6800xt should do...
If you just want 4K for text clarity, even integrated graphics can handle that
I'm literally posting from a 15 year old laptop. Kill yourself. None of this will make you happy.
look, whether this is stupid or not completely depends on how much time you spend rotting at your pc and what you actually do with it
if you're like the rest of LULZ, you spend a majority of your days rotting at your pc either programming / gaming / consooming, so in the end the cost might actually be worth it due to the experience that you get
if you are a normie, literally just buy xbox series x and call it a day
It doesn't matter how much time you spend at your computer. You don't "want" anything. You've just been convinced you do. Trust me, buy a cheap as fuck laptop and you'll find ways to make yourself happy.
that is exactly what i tried to do for the last 2 years, and it worked for a little bit, but eventually you just get bored and realize how limited the time you have here is, and you start to value good experiences
Shut up gaylord.
I've been doing this. Its pretty limiting, though the only thing I really want a gpu for is local models and I think I'm just gonna wait for the local equivalent of dalle3 to show up in the next couple of years before gettting back into desktops
>Be a waitfag
>never lose
>just buy what you need
>proceeds to write the rest of the OP on what he wants
go to ebay. even if you buy a dated PC with a few decent parts you're saving money if you trash a third of the computer.
I built something as good as this for $1400 by being israeli
you goyim can't even touch me
I'm using a 2k screen at.... 60hz I guess, driven off the whatever integrated gpu is in this midspec i7 laptop that I found. I don't see why you need all that stuff.
Hm, I just changed it to 144hz since this monitor did say that on the box and it's in the dropdown in my display settings. I never really checked before. I don't notice an immediate difference.
The difference between a 2160p/60Hz setup and 2160p/144Hz setup is like $1,500. It's a huge gap compared to all of the other configurations, not even considering HDR. The top end really just keeps going up and up if you can't restrain yourself.
stopped reading at "porn"
>wait, i also want CUDA because that's useful(AI porn)
AI porn is garbage and GGML can run things fine on the CPU anyway.
Upgrade? What for?
