About 18mpg and all the power of a 351 2bbl. $1000 intake manifold gaskets and marinized aftermarket. No real performance aftermarket, not even the people who adjust timing know how much timing theyre running. You'll sell it for a powerstroke with wishful thinking soon.
Getting it as a reliable second vehicle with occasional picking up furniture and shit, not using it to tool around like those weird fake hillbillies in 100k dollar fords kek
A decent if not slow vehicle, are those 6.9s or 7.3 13 letter shit spreaders?
It's a 7.3 diesel iirc, runs and sounds nice
Seller states it's at 180k miles, im inclined to believe it
>reliable 2nd vehicle with occasional picking up furniture
get a bricknose with the 351, F250's of any generation are cheap, there are just too many things on an IDI that can just break and be $500 if you're not a diesel enthusiast with 10 in your backyard.
>what am I in for?
For you, it’ll be like marrying a black woman. Very high maintenance without much payoff. Outside of you, others will assume you’re a HomoSex and the truck is your attempt to appear straight. The truck is your beard.
Great trucks, it will be slow, hate the highway, and won't tow as great as you think it may. Remember these early NA diesels weren't really the towing/hauling masterclass like modern diesels, and were easily outshined by a stock 460 in their day. They were more like a fuel efficient alternative to the 351s and 302s. Remember to charge your coolant with ICAs, especially on the 7.3. If you are running normal diesel definitely make sure to add a qt of ATF to the tank every couple tanks. The DB2 IPs hate modern low sulfur diesel and it'll kill them quick dead in a hurry without something to slippery it up. I just dump whatever random oils I run upon into the tank, used motor oil, used ATF, hydraulic oil, basically anything combustible can be combusted by an IDI. -t Ford diesel autist.
You can have a DB2 rebuilt for like $700 from a reputable shop, and injectors are $50 a pop which isnt that much more than good EFI injectors from a same era gas engine.
Ok, so, the IDI is trash and you will hate it immediately. Torque is misunderstood as shit because of marketing. Horsepower and gearing is what matters, horsepower is the measurement of ability to do work in a given amount of time.
The IDIs make less HP than a hyundai sonata while getting less fuel economy than a 460, with fuel that costs 30% more and zero aftermarket support and zero support for replacement parts like fuel sending units.
The whole point of a diesel is that you are not limited by compression ratio and only use the amount of fuel for the given task. On the IDI, the injection pressure is so shit that it manages to get an inefficient burn while making 150hp.
Oh, and the early transmissions for diesels are shit. It may be a 3 speed and not even handle highway speeds.
They let these things die for a reason.

It’s decent just dated I do like my 6.9T but it get overshadowed by the crummins I have, not a frontline truck but a good dump truck.

hope you enjoy paying thousands to have your pump and injectors "reconditioned"

A loyal old rig that doesn't care how much cosby sauce and ketchup you feed her.
good times

>less fuel economy than a 460,
My IDI got 20mpg no matter what kind of driving I did and my 460 got 8 on a good day.
