Japan is the most ancient surviving civilization

Japan is the only place where it's ancient monuments and relics are still treated as sacred. For example you can tell modern Egypt has no continuation with ancient Egypt because they have bodies of Egyptian kings out to be gawked at by tourists. No respect. But Japanese see Japanese burial mounds as ancestral mounds of the Japanese imperial family so they do not even allow for excavations. They are treated as actual graves

The Tomb of China's First Emperor is treated the same way lol. Not only do they forbid its opening but you're not even allowed to build anything close to the Imperial Mausoleum.

They're a unitary state, how the frick can you consider them a liberal democracy? They're a very authoritarian republic who taxes people for being over weight, how is that liberal in any way?

Even if both of them were hard traditionalist absolute autocracies it'd still be LARPing. Compete or die. When they both were autocracies they died. Suck it up and cry about it harder my little LARPie.

        Yeah, 30-40 years ago.

Part of the unstated reasons why digs aren't allowed in the Mausoleum of the QIn Emperor is China's monkey-brain adherence to Ancestral veneration. Qin Shi Huang is the Father of the Nation, if they mess with his grave it might mean badly for the current regime's Mandate of Heaven.

It's also an active religious site for Folk Chinese Religion (as with many Imperial Tombs)

I get what you mean, but Japan isn't ancient. It started it's civilization in the high middle ages. Before that Japan was literally in the chalcolithic

Kofun period is 300 to 538 AD so still pretty old

      >they have bodies of Egyptian kings out to be gawked at by tourists.
The conception of the Egyptian afterlife demanded that men be well preserved and remembered as every time their name was said they got new breath. So it is in fact something they probably would have wanted. It's not like Ancient Egyptians didn't loot the graves of their Kings, even by Royal authorities.

      You're missing the point

eh? Scandinavians have at least 2000 years of historic continuity, maybe even back to the bronze-age.

There were likely so few of them that’s why those Chinese immigrants are not even the main body today. Modern Japanese are autosomally Korean. Why do they even try to force the narrative that they are more related to Chinese than Korean?

The point is that the Kofun tombs had Chinese DNA and haplos. However the researchers extrapolated from it that japs are 70% chinese which is delusional.

So does everyone else. May Pole dancing and Yule Logs also existed in England, and even in Catholic Iberia you could find villages with bizarre seasonal dances and parades

Most villages also celebrate summer solstice here, but it's called summer fete. I cannot understand the fixation on Scandinavians on this topic of pagan tradition.

Yeah even the New Worlders retain pagan traditions lol. African paganism can be found in Brazil due to the Slaves, and then there's all the Death cult stuff in Mexico or Voodoo in the USA.
Norse Paganism is really good at marketing I guess.
