Ive listened to almost exclusively death metal/core for the past 4 years.

I’ve listened to almost exclusively death metal/core for the past 4 years. What’s the best way to branch out and find new music? Also looking for literally any recommendations from any genre

chart thread recs or dare i say it...rateyourmusic
are you trying to find stuff that has a similar energy as death metal or ease into lighter stuff?

I’m open to more metal type stuff but I feel like I’ve listened to way too much of it lately, I’d rather find some lighter stuff. I unironically like pop music but don’t know where to start, but I’m open to pretty much anything.

what kind of pop? and idk if you ever dug into death grips but that might be a good starting point

kind of inspired from both metal and trap music

an abrasive song by a great electropop band

I’ve heard every DG album, love most of them. As far as pop goes I like pop punk (gay I know) and expiremental pop. I tried listening to Kero Kero Bonito recently and liked it more than I thought I would. Also interested in hyper pop but I’m ngl I haven’t liked anything I’ve heard so far. Ik they’re kind of antithetical, but is there any pop that’s good for metal heads? Also interested in any metal esque hip hop, especially intrsumental stuff.

I mean I listen to it purely out of nostalgia at this point but the first 3 A Day To Remember albums are basically distilled pop punk mixed with metalcore.

they get hated on here but Black Dresses to me is like industrialized hyperpop

also the poppy album I Disagree has a great balance of light and heavy songs

Try some atmospheric or melancholic black metal. Maybe Veldes or Nostalghia.
These are so cathartic they would serve as a good counterpoint to the stuff you listen to which is focused on aggression. But it's still metal so there's a connecting thread between them.
