If on Windows, Musicbee is the only one worthwhile. Nothing on any platform comes close.

I just tried Musicbee out and the interface was a mess.
No wonder Clementine is still the best when that's the alternative.

There are no good cross-platform music players. That Windows XP-grade GUI posted in your screenshot illustrates just how true that still is.

Every single Linux option is crap. It is sad, but true.

Musicbee reigns above all others, like it has done for a solid decade plus.

          Clementine is cross-platform, though.
          >Windows XP-grade
So you do agree it's the best.

I suggest sticking with it, you can customize quite a lot.

Clementine is shit, use Tauon Music Box

Yes, Musicbee is the best for Windows, It kind of does work with Wine too

I remember using Clementine back in the days of Unity Ubuntu. It's still works on its abandoned status or is actually getting updates?

No. Strawberry is a fork of clementine thats currently being developed. Haven't tried it, but everyone says its good.

Strawberry is what I use right now.

If on Windows, Musicbee is the only one worthwhile. Nothing on any platform comes close.

I liked foobar on windows, still try using it on Linux now and then but the lag from WINE is annoying.

        >Every single Linux option is crap.
It's true, but part of that is because they're focused on managing your tags through a collection, not just providing a file browser+player like Foobar or Winamp

The one from 20 years ago? Can you play all modern formats with it?

      >Clementine
Nice way to type "Strawberry", homosexual.

No. Strawberry is a fork of clementine thats currently being developed. Haven't tried it, but everyone says its good.

I've tried Strawberry a few days ago, but it had a few bugs and didn't do anything Clementine doesn't, so I just went back.

Strawberry has better support for SubSonic and doesn't crash on MacOS (or any other OS).

On Linux, I've had a better experience with Clementine, tbh.

I can't say if you're full of shit or not because I don't own any CDs.
Don't Clementine or VLC work for you?

            > the what
Subsonic audio server. LMS/Airsonic/Subsonic/etc. kinda like Jellyfin/Plex for your music. I stream to my phone and all computers.
Clementine is a subsonic-capable client but haven't been updated in a while.

            > better experience
Eh, my only gripe is the white theme. Everything else just works on Windows/Linux/MacOS

I really enjoyed MusicBee when I was a Windows user, now I just want something similar for Linux.
Clementine/Strawberry, Tauon Musicbox and gmusicbrowser are "ok", but I still looking for something like MusicBee for Linux.
    I just want to:
    >edit my track information
    >see the album covers on my music collection

    Any suggestions?

I wish. There is literally nothing like MusicBee for Linux. I think I once had Amarok being something close, but that project died and was forked into Clementine which is nothing like Amarok.

i use foobar on my windows machine, but that's mostly because i've been using it for over a decade and just haven't felt the need to find something else.
on ubuntu i just use rhythmbox or whatever the default player is. i generally don't listen to music whenever i'm doing anything on a linux machine so it's never been something i've given any thought.

is mpv actually good or just a meme for autists?
i use vlc but people here say that mpv is better

although you can be autistic and tweak the everloving shit out of mpv, i just copy paste the recommended config from the arch wiki and it all justwerks. by default, mpv has a pretty minimal UI with a focus on using keyboard shortcuts, which you might not like, but there are alternative graphical frontends.

it's free, so it's not like anything is stopping you from giving it a try. i also like to use it as a simple music player, since i don't personally have the need for a fully featured music application.

        it's for total autistic people
but once you've googled all you need it works the best

the meme is that weirdos who fetishize desktop software frequently have a mindset of using one and only one app for whatever task. personally, I have 6 file managers and 7 media players installed
