It's always funny seeing zoomers complain about "long" songs because they don't have the attention span to listen to them. These people need to be shot; they will never contribute anything to society if they can't even muster the attention span to listen to a 20 minute song without getting uninterested

You're old and won't be around much longer. Why should anyone care what you think?

This album is basic crescendocore that RYM loves.

Long songs can work if there are actual sections and segments, but 6 minutes of the same shit is awful to listen to.

But GYBE knows exactly when to change it up to keep things sounding fresh. The songs never feel their actual length to me. Swans on the other hand…

        For the most part, yeah
But helpless child is not only their good song, but they only good crescendocore song because there is a clear sense of progression and the self indulgence actually works thanks to the meditative nature of the song
Which is something following bands like GyBe ignore, instead of taking a more existential approach they just try to appeal to your emotions in the cheapest way possible

Agree. Doesn't apply to shit like Swans, though. I don't get what's so appealing in 20 minute of one chord jangling or the same riff repeating with some other instruments coming on and off from time to time and old guy screaming nonsense at me

i don't have an issue with a long song as long as it justifies its length
gybe is just self indulgent garbage wankery

Right. Songs like echoes by pink floyd are able to justify their length and don’t feel as long as they are when you actually listen to them. But songs like long season are just boring to listen to and just long for the sake of being long

        >echoes
        >5 mins of "seagull noises" made by dave self-admittedly fucking around with a delay pedal
mate I love floyd but you're full of shit

Oh right, zoomers are the only group that don't like long songs, I'm sure that any other normalfag would be absolutely thrilled to listen to a 20 minute prog rock epic

I can listen to 2 hour long drone/ambient no problem but I am completely useless when it comes to things like college and I've never had the attention span and discipline needed to learn a skill, I don't think the two are the same thing anon...

I would go as far as saying that no good musical work exists with a duration of less than 20 minutes.

I hate long intros, songs should start immediately and not waste my time. Also if I don’t hear vocals that’s an instant skip

The problem is that you posted an album with too long songs, tells you someone that considers albums such as A Passion Play, Frances The Mute or Tales from Topographic Oceans to be good

I'm a zoomer. I love long songs just right. But what I hate is too long albums. I have a hard time focusing on albums longer than ~1 hour or so. I prefer to listen to albums in full, but I've got other things than listening to music in life y'know and I'd rather prefer to listen to several albums than one long.
