So if a women gets gang-raped by a platoon of Ivans who then set her house on fire, that's just her truth, but if the Russian government denies it, then it's a special "Russian truth", and the two are equally valid, and he will personally choose to believe the latter because he likes that better.
Of course he and his ilk also probably still strongly believe that Russia is actually the 2nd best military in the world, and it will be very funny to see if he realizes that reality in fact exists outside of his head.

According to my boss (a 10 year US Army veteran who’s currently in the reserves) the Russian Military is so shit mostly because they have no middle tier officers at all, so they are separated into basically colonels and generals and then grunts, so they can’t plan for curve balls in the middle of battle and either have to commit to a plan that’s obviously going to fail and all die or abandon it and surrender
It has more to do with the objectivity of what makes a "war crime" and how it's bad which, shocker, depends on narratives. And saying "yeah, we did it too" doesn't really save you from that and is completely irrelevant. Most people don't actually believe in objective morality, they believe in some bastardized form of utilitarianism and mistake their subjective views and experiences of pleasure as universal, which is why they get so angry when people have different opinions from them. These people have barely begun to cope with nihilism
