I think you need a lighter shirt.

I think the suit is too big for you and would benefit from tailoring but the biggest issue with it is it is too big around your shoulders/width wise and my very limited knowledge of tailoring is that could only be fixed by taking apart the suit from the back and cutting away fabric i.e. essentially taking the whole thing apart so it is costly.

I think 3 roll 2 size (which I hope you are wearing as), gorge height and close quarter makes it old school but your pants are too modern so it looks weird. I think pants that are not black and creased would look better.

You look like a kid dressing up with clothes found in the back of his dad’s closet. If it was tailored better you could probably pull it off

He’s just fat. You think the suit is too big because youre used to seeing thin men in ultra skinny suits. This is a normal fit for a fat guy in a classic suit.

The shirt is literally just too dark and the character of the colour doesnt harmonize well. Everything else is great,

No way, the shoulders are obviously far too wide – probably by a full 5-8cm by the look of that picture. The jacket doesn’t fit at all whatsoever.

Hard to tell with just your hand but the suit jacket seems fairly close to your skin tone, that olive might just not work with your skin at all.
Shirt color clashes hard with the muted suit jacket. Get something in an earthen tone.
Don’t wear those pants by the way. Always wear matching trousers unless you are absolutely 100% sure of what you are doing, which you clearly aren’t.

The pants and jacket don’t match. You don’t want to mix black and brown ever unless you really know what you’re doing.

You need a lighter colored shirt, a less offensive tie, the jacket is too big, the lapels are too wide for the tie, don’t wear black pants with a brown jacket.

everyone saying the shirt is too dark is basically right, though i think it’s also that the blue is too high chroma and matches too much with the tie. when choosing a lighter shirt, don’t do white—go for dull pastel blue, green, or pink. nothing too bright

it’s honestly really bad and it cannot be improved just by altering single item here
if you can get a new jacket because this one won’t ever look good with anything and until you replace you’ll just look bad

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the feedback. Big takeaways:
    1. My color choice is incorrect.
    2. Jacket is too large, especially at shoulders
    3. Jacket is close to skin tone, which may be an odd choice?
    4. Trouser choice was not compatible with jacket?
    5. I need to lose weight.

Does this sound comprehensive enough? I really do appreciate y’all’s feedback. Going to church now, and realizing that these lessons are not taught in a broad way

that sounds like a good summary. in my opinion i think there’s just a bit too much going on without a theme to it. the jacket and pants are different colors, the shirt is a loud color, and the tie draws a lot of attention. instead of having a theme with an accent piece it feels like everything is the accent piece at once. i think that may be the reason it feels a bit discordant even though individually each thing you’re wearing is fine. just my opinion though

I’ve actually been kind of getting into the look of dark or solid colored dress shirts (as opposed to the more traditional light colored ones), but it doesn’t work well with dark or understated fits like that. Such things work better with a light colored but very natty outfit, like a white or tan summer suit. Since the dark dress shirt is associated with poorly dressed guys who bought some cheap "nice" clothes at the mall because they had to attend a funeral, a well-dressed man needs to put together a natty, even foppish outfit to pull one off.

Good insight and I agree. Where I am there are a lot of people with the black suit + red/black shirt +black/red tie combo like they just walked out of a club in the 00s. So dark on dark has that association unless there is something otherwise about the outfit that distinguishes it i.e. foppish as you say.
