Firefox had something similar but even more in-depth back in the day called Panorama.

Theres extensions like tree style tabs or simple tab groups but they are shit and only get suggested as cope for not having a real solution. Native tab groups has been the top request on mozillas ideas page for like 2 years. At this point they don't want people to use the browser, just use some chromium shit about instead.

its about 10x better, and impossible in anything but firefox, whereas firefox can emulate whatever retarded chrome feature handily.

        >impossible in anything but firefox
edge, vivaldi and others chrom* based browsers have those.

no, they have vertical tabs. Indeed, if you soft fork the browser you can add anything you like, but via extensions and userchrome its firefox or bust.

userchrome is not better than vivaldi browser.html, bundle.js and custom css folder

2 years ago i wanted to replicate a legacy extension i was using on firefox xul era, enhanced url bar i think it was named, i had experience developing extensions with xul/xpcom and the old sdk jetpack, also maintained a full theme (before they killed that too) and was pretty skilled with the whole firefox customization, also contributed and fixed a few firefox bugs.
You know what was the only browser where i managed to replicate that extension behavior? vivaldi.
Firefox was great, however they killed all their unique features to attract chrome users, now you can't barely tell what browser is firefox and what is chrome if you put them side by side.

Why should i need a "tree style tabs on the vivaldi store" when it's built in the browser?

Like that anon said, it has vertical tabs not tree style.

You can use the sidebar api to do something similar, on the side, but the web-extensions api's doesn't let you touch a single thing of the built in tabs or anything else of the browser ui tbh.
Otoh this would have being possible to do with xul/xpcom in the old firefox era.

its shit. chrome tab groups deosnt even isolate cookies/logins.

    >inb4 incognito mode
but what if i want more than 2 logins for a single site?

firefox's official containers addon just works. you can also assign unique proxy per containers.

cringe tab hoarders thread. Track urls in your notes/bookmarks. There's zero benefit to having too many open to manage without getting into some hack job fix

    Container tabs in firefox exist.
At least i have them in nightly, idk if thats also in stable or ESR.
And Firefox has a gorillion tab management extensions. If you want to go that route.

But honestly, you should ask yourself why you habe that many tabs in the first place.

Mozilla's official response to this is to open a new window.

So panorama is no longer a toggle in about:config? I thought the thread dead when anon posted about it. Other than Vivaldis tile-able tabs which I miss rom FF3.6 and Brave might include soon, I didn't think there is a browser out that doesn't allow a group tabbing of sorts.

I'm sad about what happened to panorama... underrated feature, they changed its shortcut to one impossible to press by accident (or whiteout causing pain in your hand) and never did a way for users to discover it.
A friend of mine discovered it after i told him they were going to remove it, he asked my about and after pressing the correct shortcut was amazed about it and started using it albeit they were going to remove it soon.

Yeah, Ctrl Shift E I & Q maybe a tab in there sometimes. I enjoyed it immensely.

I'm pretty sure that i was using it, at the beginning with something easier... like ctrl + space or similar, then they changed it.

no, mozillas response is to use container tabs, which are a feature in firefox

This was in response to a feature request for simple tab groups. Panorama and containers are obviously an option, but a lot more convoluted.

          Because it has more features?
          >i want tab groups
          <ok, here you go
          >NO, NOT LIKE THIS
