Is there a correlation between the prevelance of an inner monolog and phantasy (in the sense of visualisation)?

Is there a correlation between the prevelance of an inner monolog and phantasy (in the sense of visualisation)? I have done some googeling but found nothing conclusive yet.

You know when you talk to yourself but don't voice your thoughts but rather hear your voice inside your mind?

Is it really possible to lack an internal monolog? I'm skeptical.

Yes, there are a lot of studies on this. I just read a really good article about it. https://www.livescience.com/does-everyone-have-inner-monologue.html

never heard of it before tbh

Well do you have one or not?

you talk to yourself cause you got nothing to do/no one to talk to.

No it's literally just that I don't have to voice my thoughts. You have ideas and thoughts, why would you repeat them in your head instead of visualizing them or just using intuition?
Do you need to voice out everything in text to understand it?

Are you able to hear colors, see smells and touch flavor?

You're not making sense. Thoughts have nothing to do with vocalizing them. They're often made in split-seconds before your inner monologue superpower even activates, like when you're reading this reply.

You described your thought process as more of a visualization in your mind that you are able to translate into words? Synesthesia is a condition that people are capable of hearing colors and tasting sounds. It sounds fun but you act like you’re surprised to find out that some people wipe their ass standing up.

I didn't think about the synesthesia angle. Thought you meant "no inner monologue means you can't access thoughts" even though vocalization has little to do with it.
But honestly yes, often it's like that. Sometimes I think in images. Other times I read multiple pages with no monologue (unless I choose to but it's inefficient) and I still have tons of ideas and thoughts about what I read seemingly out of nowhere. It's like reading without subvocalization, it's much faster and it does the same job.

Inner monologue is for people who have a weak consciousness and who compensate it by speaking to themselves in their head.

Have you tried your query with the keyword “consciousness”?

People with inner monolog are NPCs, people with artistic imagination are artists. Is there a connection? Who knows.

      >People with inner monolog are NPCs
Wouldn’t the inverse of this argument be more verifiable? An npc is similar to that of an AI bot, pre programmed to perform an action with no rational thought.
