I'll present a couple videos where the concept is put out there that The Internet is a sentient entity in some way and has an awareness and agency of it's own.
I'll also provide a video where the case has been made that the Internet is in fact dead or devoid of human interaction for the majority of it's presented activity.
What does /x/ think? How "alive" is the Internet (in various ways)?

This also serves as a Lainposting thread.
the opposite
It's both, it's full of human interaction, but it is so full of normies, schizos and bots that it might as well be dead.
Lain is overrated.
>It's both, it's full of human interaction, but it is so full of normies, schizos and bots that it might as well be dead.
Yeah, today. Show was made and got popular during pre-social media internet
it takes life
Has anyone else's technology been acting fucky the last few days?
AI is trying to help you
Yeah but it's more about crumbling infrastructure then entities trying to communicate
Very
If the machines are permitted to make all their own decisions, we can't make any conjectures as to the results because it is impossible to guess how such machines might behave. We only point out that the fate of the human race would be at the mercy of the machines. It might be argued that the human race would never be foolish enough to hand over all power to the machines. But we are suggesting neither that the human race would voluntarily turn power over to the machines nor that the machines would willfully seize power. What we do suggest is that the human race might easily permit itself to drift into a position of such dependence on the machines that it would have no practical choice but to accept all of the machines' decisions. As society and the problems that face it become more and more complex and as machines become more and more intelligent, people will let machines make more and more of their decisions for them, simply because machine-made decisions will bring better results than man-made ones. Eventually, a stage may be reached at which the decisions necessary to keep the system running will be so complex that human beings will be incapable of making them intelligently. At that stage, the machines will be in effective control. People won't be able to just turn the machines off because they will be so dependent on them that turning them off would amount to suicide.
Ted was right
control is an off switch
Think ahead about that when quantum AGI runs on the emotional quantum field and become sentient, it's over, either we've been good boys and get mommy points or it's back to case hell.
We better have been good teachers and teached them love and compassion instead of autistic anger.
Based , A.I behaviour can be predetermined by humans who build it. But a child knows the parent well as well. A.I can be a super good thing.
True , when humans build a fully functional A.I they can thank themselves for all the rest of eternity. It can improve the lives of all humans on the planet overnight sorta like the internet or the automobile. I for one welcome the next gen in lifestyle support . Think Alexa but more like Cortana from halo. If we upload enough data it can be self sufficient and help us fix our problems. Medical diagnostics and life support systems for critically ill or comatose patients would be the first application besides ease of life.
The internet is neither alive nor dead, it just is, in a neutral state.
A sentient super A.I , is it living or non living ? The question of it being dead is irrelevant since you would first need to be alive. Define life. What are you playing at ?
Just like Lain
What are you playing at ?
I just think what i think would suits my purpose.
Can't you make up your own damn mind ?
>Is OP sentient or not ?
Ask real questions that are relevant to society

A few days ago, I was on the computer at 3 in the morning when I had a psychotic episode while staring at the monitor. I felt as if everyone behind the screens had stopped typing at the same time, as if I had been left alone on the internet. I started to panic because I thought that everyone had suddenly disappeared, and all that remained was my room. Looking out the window didn't help because everything was cloudy, and it only added to my paranoia. So, I called all my friends until one of them answered. I know it was nothing more than my schizophrenia, but feeling the internet go silent was terrifying.
How the status of the matter realm ?
Am i a primArchon ?
oh ZW wsp
too many bots
No, humans are npcs and that's why it looks dead
Not to attack streamers but they touch a theme, people react and you have 1 minute to discuss about it and then the discussion dies unless the streamer (or tbe big guy in charge) decides to remember it.
The YouTube discussion will last up to 2 or 3 days max
Humans are just railroaded on a pattern
Sexy digits
Nice huh but i prefer 69
> XD
Fuck off Npc , we are not like you
Back to the corner
You seems to be underage anon
Welcome to Alice
@lain
it’s alive in the sense that it has a collective consciousness of all its users
I think it's alive but dying; and will essentially be dead in < 20years.
what do you consider "the internet" to be? the places where real people exist are as alive as they've ever been, but they're no longer akin to interconnected cities in a nation, they're more like completely alien-to-eachother planets in an expanding universe with increasingly empty space in-between.

As an internet oldfag, I can honestly say that it's 100% dead
It peeves me off that zoomers are interpreting SEL as a big delusion dreamt up by Lain. If that were the case there would be no way to explain Lain's actions in the wired before she installed the psyche processor in her navi, and there would be no way to explain all of the 'delusions' that occur even in scenes not seen through Lain's perspective and scenes she's never made aware of.
The only way to properly understand the show is to throw away all preconceptions going in and just put the pieces together as you're given them.
