Byrds were recording at Columbias studios in Hollywood / NYC, that would have been state of the art. I think their vox sound great, its group vocals as opposed to Beatles which was typically single vocal with close harmony. And entirely different vocal styles in general, I don't see it as a problem of production its just stylistic.
For sure and they did do it the first (although The Beatles were in fact an older band) but idk if The Byrds are better than Love,Jimi Hendrix,Small Faces,The Grateful Dead,CAN,The Velvet Underground,Amon Düül ii,Neu!,The Litter,The Electric Prunes,or a ton of other bands who did Psych Rock or at least similar music. I would say they were both very good and important historically for sure and that Eight Miles High and a couple others are absolute classics. For sure but it's what followed that made rock what it is today.
I love lots of 60s music so I got turn turn turn and boy if any band ever aged poorly its this one. Eery other act in the 60s did aspe to of their sound better kinks, beatles, beach boys, fucking monkees
disagree hard, all those alternative jangle pop bands from the 80s up to today were/are pulling straight from the Byrds. I mean if you traced the roots of indie rock you'd see all those early 80s college rock bands were Byrds worshippers.
Kek. I would alternate between Here Without You and Feel a Whole Lot Better after my break up.
You should check out Flying Burrito Brothers if you haven't already. Two members of the Byrds started the group, it's more country than folk-rock but it's just as amazing.
Their best songs are covers and even those are corny shit. LULZ needs to divorce itself from classic rock already, it's been 60 years of endlessly praising the same shit
I mean their biggest songs including that were covers, if they had more originals they'd probably be better regarded. I mean I agree though they're great, the amount of influenced they had on Big Star in particular is insane.
Lol bullshit, Harrison literally got one of the first Ric 12 strings ever and he's the one who turned the Byrds on to that sound. Byrds were Beatles fans
If I Needed Someone is a clear ripoff of The Bells of Rhymney
Musically illiterate, they aren't even in the same mode

It's already been documented that If I Needed Someone was directly influenced by The Byrds version of The Bells of Rhymney, and that George Harrison admitted as much to The Byrds when he played it for them on their British Tour.
Also it should be noted that Bells of Rhymney is an old Scottish folk song, that The Byrds covered.
Lol bullshit, Harrison literally got one of the first Ric 12 strings ever and he's the one who turned the Byrds on to that sound. Byrds were Beatles fans
It was a two way street.
McGuinn only got a twelve string Ric after seeing A Hard Days Night
And if you'll keep paying close attention....

George Harrison even admitted this fact to Jim McGuinn when The Byrds did their first tour of England, and met The Beatles. It was most certainly a mutual appreciation society.
I think they were actually copying the Monkees here
Well, both of them were from the Laurel Canyon area.....
definitely better than the beatles
the Beatles were admittedly better with their image, but the Byrds far surpassed them in actual musical ability
>musical ability
They used studio musicians and their biggest hits were covers
>They used studio musicians
Only for Mr. Tambourine Man (song) right?
I dont think Byrds were better musicians, maybe Mcguinn was on par, but I do think Byrds were far more interesting and wrote better originals.
I can't think of one Byrds original, and I like the Byrds
so u wanna be a rock and roll star, fag
parsons era unmatched btw
I listened to it. It's OK. Definitely a big step down from their Zimmerman covers though. And again, I like the Byrds.
Eight Miles High, the song that arguably created psychedelic rock alongside The Yardbirds "Over,Under,Sideways,Round".
I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better, 8 Miles High, 5D, Mr. Spaceman, So You Want To Be A Rock N Roll Star, Have You Seen Her Face
The beatles benefitted from recording in a much better studio. The vocals came out much better.

Lol, lmao even. ROFL, if you will
Retarded Response+Appeal to Status Quo which you hope will get your peers to finally respect you

If you ask chatgpt for “sentences said by no one ever” this one would probably show up
>one really good song and the rest is filler: the band
>their one good song is ripped directly from The Bible
Moby Grape were better.
lolno The Byrds suck balls
what's your favorite band
Right now The Beach Boys
What's your favorite album. And if it's pet sounds what's your 2nd favorite.
Yeah
The David Crosby years were GOAT!
You meant Gene Clark of course
Well, they both left at the same time, so, yeah, I guess.

>made a passable arrangement of a Pete Seeger song and some forgettable filler shlock
Pass
They are so underrated. Their sound is magical.
based anon, I've been listening to Here Without You constantly since my gf and I broke up

Oh yeah, tell us then what would we talk about instead?
probably Oui punk or something
Fucking filthy yikes. better stick to boomer rock
Because Psychedelia was an amazing art movement with great variety.
It's crazy how great a sound their Mr Tambourine Man cover had.
Yeah the Wrecking Crew had a vibe
I mean their biggest songs including that were covers, if they had more originals they'd probably be better regarded. I mean I agree though they're great, the amount of influenced they had on Big Star in particular is insane.
>make mediocre psych rock for years
>Change up your lineup and create one of the finest country albums of all time
How'd they do it?
Gram basically made that entire album. Same with the first Burrito Bros until his brain got fried on heroin.
Based and Gram pilled
so did him and emmy lou harris fuck..i mean they look like they're fucking here, i want the lowdown, someone please give ti to me.
Hard to say but she was definitely in love with him based on interviews I've seen her talk about him
Gram was in love with Keith Richards
David Crosby got a sticky you retard
Two blatantly obvious examples of The Beatles trying to be The Byrds....
I think they were actually copying the Monkees here
If I Needed Someone is a clear ripoff of The Bells of Rhymney
Sorry but being inspired by someone else and playing the same instrument isn't ripping off. If it was then the Byrds were the first offenders
Please listen to both songs. It’s literally the same riff. Not every song with a Rickenbacker has the same riff, retard
Musically illiterate, they aren't even in the same mode

It sounds like they ripped off Turn! Turn! Turn!

Harrison... admitted to McGuinn that McGuinn stole the 12 string idea from Harrison...? George mustve been real humble.
Either way McGuinn took 12 string to another level, Beatles just used it as a garnish.
>dude 12 string guitars: the band
