Yes, but not necessarily. It is a sin since the reason software exists in the first place is because of the financial system, and I mean exist as in words that we know of, not a product. Forget about software, if it weren't for material gain that is expected out of any labor, we'd still be Savana hunting.
With that said, it's a question where things get a bit too much in a certain direction, say, where the purpose of the product is not necessary that of a helpful tool that someone might need, but a product that is made to be lucrative instead. Where the integrity of the whole endeavor is sabotaged by pointless accumulation of income, most likely for personal and not so noble reasons.
This is where piracy is allowed if not encouraged since the existence of such a product is an abuse of trust between buyer and maker. This trust is invisible, while money are real.
But this is also where the personal judgment comes, which as we know, is the worst type of evidence for anything.
One thing that judgment does allow you to see is that if product is indeed genuine, most likely it be a free with choice of willing contribution. As much as capitalism sucks, this is probably it's most outstanding development.
So yeah, it's not a sin as long as you can justify it.
>piracy from indie software developer or simply some guy trying to make a living
sin >piracy from companies known to screw over the consumer for their own gain (Apple, Adobe, Microsoft)
not a sin
I would say that only if it's a law that's actually enforced, like in Japan.
Copyright didn't exist for most of human history, it's a completely made up, prejudicial law that contradicts natural law: you can't own ideas. There's no such thing as intellectual property, therefore piracy is not stealing. It's more like tax evasion.
So no, I wouldn't say piracy is a sin in a vacuum. Ultimately we have to follow the laws of the land we live in as long as they don't deny Christ, so look if somebody has ever been punished for downloading pirated files from the internet, if it has happened, don't do it. If it hasn't, it's fair game.
The bible teaches us that we should always follow the laws of the land even if they oppress us, as long as they dont go against God's law. So in that sense I guess it would be a sin.
However, software "piracy" could still be considered moral, the problem is that it's illegal.
Yes
Can you elaborate?
No
>piracy
no such thing
>sin
no such thing
No. Capitalism is the sin.
it's a moral obligation
Jesus pirated bread and fish, so objectively no.

intellectual """property""" is a myth.
Piracy doesnt have anything to do with ipr.
Ipr only matter if you sell someone elses stuff, not if you share it freely.
You can't steal what you can't own even if you pay for it.
No, it's anti-Semitic.
>Thou shall not steal
The commandment is pretty clear
How is it theft if i didnt take it?
Quran does not mention it so it's not.

I'd say there's nothing morally wrong but unlike media it's more dangerous be careful for viruses
You take nothing away from anyone, so no.
Maybe not.
But I'm already going to hell anyways so I really don't give a fuck.
