that pic is so silly. Many AA actually vii st Africa and other parts of the world because they now actually ave income to spend. I always found the LULZ obsession with blacks to be so creepy.

Anon that's pretty much all holidays nowadays are rootless or stripped of all meaning to make it easier commercialize. Kwanzaa is pretty much one of many proofs that if you make something up it can be real.

Blacks in America have the same status as cows in the Hindu parts of India. One would have to be blind to argue the contrary.

It’s about as real a holiday as the German faith movement is a real religion. So make of that what you will.

I’d love to see someone pretend to be a member of the gfm and explain their beliefs to a pan-Africanist that does Kwanzaa and either be unable to criticise the gfm or have to come off as a massive hypocrite.

From the outside looking in, it just looks like a black Hanukkah that presents an oversimplified view on what is 'African'. Africa isn't a unitary state or culture.

      >Africa isn't a unitary state or culture.
Really context dependant. To many people we basically are because many states/companies don't have specific individual or regional policy or have some broad "Africa" grouping.

We are diverse but not enough to matter in terms of clout.

if you're an african american and want to "get in touch" with your roots why not celebrate a west african holiday? was it necessary to invent a holiday using swahili (an east african language) words?

it was created by the intelligence agencies

It was invented in 1965 by a Swahili Philosopher. No more real or fake than christmas.

      >No more real or fake
      >Christmas is celebrated in 500 different ways all across the world with some of the traditions going back millennia.
      >Kwanzaa was created 57 years ago by an afro-marxist to be essentially Hannukah for negroes, the number of people who genuinely celebrate the thing can probably be counted with 2 hands.
