I've seen lots more bad restorations than good ones. Lots of scummy guys in that sphere who like to polish turds and sell them off to unsuspecting casuals for big profit. Somebody with knowledge and experience can usually sniff out any fuckery, but sometimes it's impossible to detect an issue from the outside.

      What electric crap?

      Complex ≠ unreliable
Old cars are not very reliable compared to new ones.

Probably your only chance is a truck with the "work truck" package, if they're still around. They were getting phased out, even back around '07.

You can still buy a brand new f250 fleet package truck with glass sealed beam headlights.

      >truck
Uh, I'm not a redneck so why would I want a truck? I want a sporty Japanese style sports car with NO driver assists or automatic ANYTHING! And I want it to have a cassette deck so I can play really cool EUROBEAT songs on my drive to my tech support job. I don't want a stinky truck.

Mitsubishi Mirage. Kia Rio. Both can still be had in manual and the only "nanny" is a back up camera.

Is it possible to take a last gen car (2009-2013 era) and make it simpler?

How would you make it simpler? And define simple, the fuel injection system is probably the most complicated electronics on bards.

Less computer and electric stuff man.

Computers are simple, it's just 1s and 0s. Which ones are you going to remove? The centre console? Who cares if it fails, as long has HVAC is separate controls.
If you remove it, it's essentially the same as if it failed. So just use it until it stops working.

Why are you talking down to me. I've studied this stuff. I don't want computers in my car

Studied what? You haven't given a good reason other than thinking that it's too complex.

It’s possible yes, they cost $35000 though and aren’t at all practical or reliable.

Still a dream car for me though.

you can still buy cateringham's in australia with a ford 2 litre. Manual. I don't think they have TCS or airbags or power steering.

actually further to that you can make individually constructed vehicle's which I think only have to comply with the basic vehicle standards regs.
I've seen custom clubmans (basically cateringhams) and various motorbikes made in this way. I'm not sure why more people don't do it.

        Yep they also exist.

But Cateringhams and Ariels are both purpose built track toys while a Morgan has some comforts like an Audio system or a roof.

          >has some comforts like an Audio system or a roof.
well you have to make up your mind.
OP queried whether you could still get basic simply, engaged automotive enthusiast cars.
The fact that motorbikes, cateringhams are still in existance (brand new) and road legal somehow in a highly regulated place like Australia suggests that you still can get simple fun cars.
I don't think we can complain and then just choose not to buy these fun but basic (loud uncomfortable) vehicles. That seems like hypocrisy.

Don’t get me wrong I’m happy that the British Go-cart industry is alive and well. It’s just that I think that the balance that Morgan’s get is nice, it’s still a driver focused car but it’s also quite comfy.

            Also the design is unmatched.

LOL nope. Everything now has stupid infotainment tablets and chip modules that control everything even the god damn windshield wipers. And when it breaks? Spread you asscheeks, goy. Drive a 20 year old shitbox that doesn't have any of that electroisraelite crap in it, or lease something. Otherwise you're going to get financially raped

    >Is it possible to buy a new car without all the retarded electrical crap in them? Or do you just have to buy refurbished old cars

Come to the third world. We have the "new tech" from 10 years ago and further. Last company truck was a 2018 D23 Frontier with a YD25 commonrail engine, but not even a DPF on it. Wife could tell when I stopped outside our 8' concrete wall with glass spikes to open the gate because she could smell the truck before she could hear it.

It did have blue tooth, airbags, central locking and a backup camera but those aren't legal requirements.

We have a variety of commercial vehicles selling without airbags, or any emissions anything and with cassette tape decks as of last year. Haven't checked anything recently.
