Soma & Last Nite being the only replayable songs despite their overt trust-fund inspired lyricism
Is it really such a big deal that his father is this well connected guy? Does it really matter if someone has connections or not? Sure, making your way up from the streets or from the bottom is a great story, but people who are well connected deserve to make music as well, right? If they're talented of course. As long as they of course do not deny their connections and their privileged environment
>Does it really matter if someone has connections or not?
people with connections have it a hell of a lot easier making music, recording it, selling it, promoting it, and touring it. one of my friends' dad is in the business and i guarantee the family connection and money is what springboarded her. not entirely relevant to the music itself, but something to consider when better musicians who aren't as well connected just don't have as much ability to propel their careers
>people with connections have it a hell of a lot easier making music, recording it, selling it, promoting it, and touring it.
Which none of these translate to talent
No, it's just a way for failed "musicians" to cope with their lack of success, that's definitely because others are so much more connected, and not because their "music" is shit. Don't worry about it.
as you must know at this point its all about networking, pr agents, publicity and money. do the math then
You people are fucking retarded, Julian didn't have a good relationship with his dad and I bet that aside from the swiss millionaire bullshit John didn't gave a fuck about him, the real deal breaker in The Strokes is I don't know maybe the offspring of a certain singer/songwriter that's sold 300 MILLION RECORDS WORLDWIDE?
i think it's pretty good but not a masterpiece. most songs work well by themselves, but when i listen to them in sequence i find they're just playing it a bit too safe.
their songwriting and style are solid but it's all very of middle-of-the-road. nothing really rocks or grooves hard, nothing far out happens, nothing controversial is said. it's too inoffensive, there's not enough spice.
It’s an amazing album, the guitar interplay on this thing is some serious stuff. Sure it doesn’t reinvent the wheel or whatever but it doesn’t matter, Julian is a good songwriter and they have good chemistry.
The funny thing about LULZ is that they will call the Strokes boring and circlejerk stuff like Radiohead or BCNR. Don’t make me laugh, homosexuals.
>he wrote every song here and on Room on Fire, down to the bass lines and even the guitar solos
you make it sound like this shit is Dark Side of the Moon, bro.
good that he's a capable musician, and I like some of their music, but ...genius? c'mon man
no
next question

I know alotta poor ass niggas who can’t rap shut up with ya yt asss
rap is the antithesis of soul, my point is proven

I am an ESL by the way

Blue the israelite?
Nah it's ass
That's the reason why it has that cover art
that's a knee though
Soma & Last Nite being the only replayable songs despite their overt trust-fund inspired lyricism
Hard to explain is good too bro.
yes
1 great song and a bunch of okay songs
Great album which defined rock music in the 00s.
It is probably not a gem today, but its significance is enormous.
Personal favourite is Someday, but I am also very fond of the track Is This It.
Pusy
It's a very solid album and the opening track is great, maybe the best. Last Nite and Someday are slightly overrated and overplayed though
>Is it as good as they say it is? Is it really a masterpiece?
no
the new abnormal is their best album
No
No
>the new abnormal is their best album
why do people think this. it's like maybe their fourth best.
room on fire is better
No, it's not, you contrarian bitch.
Julian Casablancas speaks to my gay soul
i think it's pretty good but not a masterpiece. most songs work well by themselves, but when i listen to them in sequence i find they're just playing it a bit too safe.
Too safe how?
their songwriting and style are solid but it's all very of middle-of-the-road. nothing really rocks or grooves hard, nothing far out happens, nothing controversial is said. it's too inoffensive, there's not enough spice.
i'm more of a voidz fan but that may be because i'm a sporkfag.
Yeah it is. One of the all time great rock albums.
It's so boring. SO boring. So plain.
If it weren't for that glorious album art, I would pay this album no mind
The singles they released before Is This It were already successful and that cover was censored in US.
its pretty good, nothing groundbreaking but enjoyable songs all throughout

Why don’t you try listening to it OP
i like the strokes, i used to listen to them a lot but part of me will always hate them for influencing so much garbage in the 2000s
yes, anyone who says otherwise is usually an obnoxious contrarian, snob.
>anime
>drop retarded braindead contrarian "meme"
normie shit
its pretty straight through good album, with an iconic sound.
i could understand pretty much any song on the album being someone’s favorite.
Sex with Julian
it's a great back to the basics album
For me, it's Trying Your Luck.
definitely not.
it's not it.
Still the best album of the 21st century. They never came close to repeating it.
Never could get into them, seem a bit one note to me.
Listen to Empress by Trap Rabbit instead. It's only twenty minutes and it's really good.
If you don't like this album, you're an incel. Every girl everywhere loves this, so if you dislike it you've probably never been laid.
its certified shit
Listen to real garage rock like the Gories or the Oblivians and not this watered down, gentrified shit
Gories and Oblivians are fucking amazing and you are based for recommending them but they are really doing something completely different come on
True, I guess they are closer to the Exploding Hearts. Or perhaps Clorox Girls.
One of us
when the clout you get for rejecting a rock star's advances outweighs the clout you'd get for sucking his dick
he's just like me fr fr
that girl isn't even good looking, wtf julian
Casablancas is a pop music genius, he wrote every song here and on Room on Fire, down to the bass lines and even the guitar solos
>he wrote every song here and on Room on Fire, down to the bass lines and even the guitar solos
you make it sound like this shit is Dark Side of the Moon, bro.
good that he's a capable musician, and I like some of their music, but ...genius? c'mon man
It’s not great. Every White Stripes album is better than every Strokes album.
true
Looks like Madonna's cover, that's a nasty-looking ass, Strokes were one of the pioneers of basedboy culture, that can't appreciate sexy woman.
I was at that photoshoot, it was actually the drummer's backside (tucking it in) and right after the shoot he squeezed out a turd.
iamgene teh smael
Masterpiece but only if you are a sexual active person.
depends if you like buttrock
