I'm a guy who's been in hospitals a lot throughout my life because of ulcerative colitis and most nurses in my experience were nice girls who helped me and didn't make me feel bad even though I was a diseased underweight mess.
Nurses see all kinds of weird stuff so they probably won't make a big deal out of you being trans.

I've heard some real horror stories about trannies in the hospital getting bullied by nurses

I have been bullied by nurses and touched awkwardly by a doctor. The worst is usually just rolled eyes when I tell them my meds or invasive questions unrelated to why I am there, like bottom surgery inquiries at the ear-nose-throat specialist.

i'm a troony in another female-dominated industry and you should be prepared for some level of lateral aggression regardless of whether you're out or not, nursing has a bit of a reputation for that (i know a cis woman who's a nurse and she's been bullied at work before). most of the time it's mild though and you sort of get used to it, and i get on really well with most of the girls i work with. in any case i feel it's definitely better to be stealth in these kinds of jobs.

Depends what kind of nurse. Don’t be a L&D nurse. If you’re smart just be a surgical nurse and make bank and never have to deal with anyone except an egomaniac surgeon and anesthesiologist.

Three of my girlfriends have been nurses, and they are the sweetest people in my experience. It's like the most fembrained profession, and fembrains tend to be kind.

its fine by what i heard but be warned most nurses are moronic and/or narcissistic egotistical prostitutes so you might have some shit coworkers to deal with

What do you base this on? Why would a narcissistic egoist become a nurse? That's the last thing such a person would gravitate towards.

the same reason they become teachers

Nurses are paid decently well and saying you are one garners respect in society. The general image is that nurses are good caring people who work very hard on long shifts. You also get some limited amount of authority over sick people who basically have to trust you without question. A narcissist with an angel complex or however you say it in english would love this job, and you see many there. There's also the ones who go into nursing because they want to do a "women's work" but believe they are above being a secretary or child carer. Nurse, child psychologist, and so on is the step up above other women to these people. If you interact with nursing, child development, or psychology students at a university you will find plenty of this type.

it would be cool if you were a nurse at a gender clinic or some lgbt friendly med organization. I think nurses are either amazing (like my mom) or gutter trash like many in this thread will recount

You will be bullied, I'll make sure of it. Also, no patient will want you near them.

Are you a terf nurse, anon?

Yes, and a supervisor. Patients are wary even of male nurses, they're even more apprehensive of a male one dressed as a woman.

It's OK, anon. For one thing she's called herself a terf so that'll be the extreme case of people who most dislike trannies. And for the other thing, it sounds like you could just potentially end up not being assigned to female patients, similar to how prisons will have rules about who's allowed to work with female prisoners.
I wouldn't let that stop you pursuing your dream if I were a troony. And if you look halfway decent and not like a drag queen then probably fewer people will notice or care that you're trans.

Just keep a positive attitude and do your job. That's all you really can do. If you're nice and help people that'll probably work in your favor in the long run. And try not to get too upset if someone does bully you or ask you not to work with certain patients. It's unfortunate but most everyone deals with shit they don't like with their job, troony or not.

Don't worry about it. The bar's pretty low on troony appearances (e.g. the Dylan Mulvaney reference some anon made earlier) so you'll probably be less repulsive than whatever your future co-workers' idea of trannies is.

Imma troony and I have had super nice experiences with nurses in the hospital, including SRS after treatment. I'm so thankful.

Yes, please be a nurse. It's better than the bugwoman lifestyle most trannies chose.
