Does anyone know why the Iraqi army performed so poorly in the Iran-Iraq War? They were supported by pretty much every major power. They also striked at a very opportune time due to the revolution going on in Iran. Just seems weird they couldn't make any substantial gains and were quickly on the defense.

Just like how Hitler was controlled opposition to manipulate Germans into fighting a devastating war with Russia, which only cost the lives of a lot of good men, Khomeini was likewise controlled opposition to cost devastating loss of life for Persians and Iraqi Arabs.
One way to break out of this nonsense is for the entire world to de-Abrahamize and frequently slander the Abrahamic Gods as a way to mock israelites.
Unironically touch grass, this site has fried your brain. I came asking a simple question about this war and in return I get some assburger who left the generic, containment 'Christianity Bad' NPC threads. Humanities was a mistake.
>literally only thing he got from my post is "Christianity is bad"
You have absolutely no reading comprehension.
It doesn't matter if you ever touch grass because you're incapable to truly understanding it.
>They were supported by pretty much every major power.
This is such a nagger meme. "Support" could mean everything including sending a truck or two. Kind of like Ukraine is now supported by all of NATO but they're still getting their ass kicked.
>American support for Ba'athist Iraq during the Iran–Iraq War, in which it fought against post-revolutionary Iran, included several billion dollars' worth of economic aid, the sale of dual-use technology, military intelligence, and special operations training.[1][2] The U.S. refused to sell arms to Iraq directly due to Iraq's ties to terrorist groups, but several sales of "dual-use" technology have been documented; notably, Iraq purchased 45 Bell helicopters for $200 million in 1985.[3][4]
>On February 9, 1994, Senator Riegle delivered a report—commonly known as the Riegle Report—in which it was stated that "pathogenic (meaning 'disease producing'), toxigenic (meaning 'poisonous'), and other biological research materials were exported to Iraq pursuant to application and licensing by the U.S. Department of Commerce." It added: "These exported biological materials were not attenuated or weakened and were capable of reproduction."[48] The report then detailed 70 shipments (including anthrax) from the United States to Iraqi government agencies over three years, concluding "It was later learned that these microorganisms exported by the United States were identical to those the UN inspectors found and recovered from the Iraqi biological warfare program."[49]
>More than 60 US Defense Intelligence Agency officers provided combat planning assistance, and the US also provided battlefield intelligence including satellite pictures to Saddam Hussein's military.[51][52][53]
>The American military commitment that had begun with intelligence-sharing expanded rapidly and surreptitiously throughout the Iran–Iraq War. A former White House official explained that "by 1987, our people were actually providing tactical military advice to the Iraqis in the battlefield, and sometimes they would find themselves over the Iranian border, alongside Iraqi troops."[1]:38
>Iraq used this data to target Iranian positions with chemical weapons, says ambassador Galbraith.
That's just USA.
I'm not going through every major power that supported Iraq. It's obvious they had a substantial amount of support compared to Iran. Maybe I should just read a book on the war instead since it could be too niche for LULZ.
Saddam had the support of literally everyone because as big of a nuisance Saddam was, EVERYBODY fucking hated Iran. China, the USSR, the US, the Saudis and all the other gulf Arab states, etc etc etc. Saddam pretty much had the entire world on his side because Iran was very good at making enemies
>Iran's foreign supporters gradually came to include Syria and Libya, through which it obtained Scud missiles. It purchased large quantities of weaponry from North Korea and the People's Republic of China, notably the Silkworm anti-ship missile. It also acquired arms from Portugal, notably after 1984. It also acquired propellants and other weapons related components from Spain and Portugal. The United States also provided covert support for Iran through Israel, although it is debated as to whether U.S. President Ronald Reagan ordered the sale of weapons to Iran. Most of this support included TOW missiles.[1]
>Does anyone know why the Iraqi army performed so poorly in the Iran-Iraq War
They were arabs
Most of the support Iraq got happened in response to their defeat in the invasion, when they were on the strategic defensive and Basra was threatened.
Many of the non-bootlicker/cowed into submission generals were against the invasion to start with, and the logistics/training/C5ISR simply was not adequate for the given task.
Buying weapons several years later can't fix fundamental organisational defects.
>Does anyone know why the Iraqi army performed so poorly in the Iran-Iraq War?
Because they're Arabs.

>why the Iraqi army performed so poorly in the Iran-Iraq War?
It's an Internet meme, the Iraqi army performed considerably well and won in the last two major battles in the war, and even when getting pushed out of Iran it took less casualties than the Iranian side and succeeded in fending off the country against Iranian aggression. The Iranian army had the upper hand being major power for decades with generally better training and equipment while Saddam has chemical weapons at his disposal, the Iranians faired really well in the war considering their circumstances at the time.
iran had god on their side
they did have God's chosen people on their side
But they performed pretty well
Iran’s geography is overpowered and needs a nerf. Only one province is outside of the mountain fortress (the one Iraq was able to invade).
>1982
>Deng Xiaoping, being the former military head he was, takes a keen interest in the Falklands War and the British ships sunk due to Exocet anti-ship missiles
>dis he rikes
>makes China produce its own anti-ship missiles
>sells said anti-ship missiles to both sides to make both sides lose and cause maximum brown-people casualties
grandpa Deng's wisdom prevails once again
Iran is already killing Muslims already. You believe the NPC meme that Iran is killing Israelis? Lmao I wish
Saddam's aim was to conquer the shia arab province of Iran which was pretty stupid even for him
