    >the one reason to sign with AEW is to do the Shaq match

good for him carnying Tony though

yeah, it's a waste of money like most of AEWs signings..good lord, his voice is like one of the worst things about big show.

Bad implies it was harmful, and I don't think it was. Was it pointless? Absolutely, I expected Wight to have more screen presence.

Headcanon. Just like janela having a backstage role or emi being a coach for the womeme.

It was a great idea for Wight. Easy money and few miles. Tony is truly a money mark.

Yes, he's fucking terrible on commentary. Him and Mark have been ruining Elevation for a year

Love Show. His recent matches with Drew and Braun were classics. He can still go if he wants. I'd love to see Show vs Kenneth Omega.

Extremely bad idea. Tony loves pissing away his dad’s money, just another example of it

He's a backstage roles guy, so unless you know exactly how effective he is compared to someone else... ???

He probably helped pop the big 200k at all out though, putting on a nostalgia act right as you get a bunch of eyes is a classic move.

  14. 6 days ago

Theres no way of knowing. He was signed to add name recognition to AEW for sponsors and to help around backstage. Whether he has achieved that, only really Tmarky Kmark knows

Both Show and Henry were absolutely ridiculous money mark signings. Even Christian is questionable and I like him.

Honestly half of the roster should be cut.

If AEW had a proper belt for the hosses to fight over I think using Show and Henry occasionally for nostalgia pops and for putting over guys like Hobbs would be pretty good

Mark Henry's never getting back in the ring and Show's body will exploe if he tries to do more than teach a developmental prospect how to bump for a chokeslam on camera once every few montrhs

Tf does he even do besides Elevation commentary

He's like their main charity coordinator and one of the guys that coaches people IIRC.

Whenever Tony gets worked by an old ass carny the cultists claim they have a backstage role or are coaches but that's never the case since all the aew talent are quick to mention who helps them with coaching and it's not show or Henry.

Coaches who and where? I only know about people training in the factory and he isn't a trainer there.

I mean, he sucks as an announcer but he is a veteran of 28 years and hopefully he's backstage helping younger talent grow even while rehabbing.

Really think you guys are underestimating the value of normie name value.
If you say you're a wrestling company with Jericho, Big Show, Mark Henry then that is more attractive to sponsors than Young Bucks, Kenny Omega and Orange Cassidy.
Sponsors always go for name value when choosing to spend their money.

      Anonymous

Yeah but now they're a wrestling company with Jericho, Punk, Danielson and Moxley and they actually wrestle unlike Show and Henry. The dogwanker is paying millions for something that Billy Gunn could do.

True but they didn't know these guys would sign at the time.
If you watch soccer, it's the same situation that Newcastle are in. They have all the money in the world but none of the market position. So they will sign players this summer that are not good enough to play at the top but are better than what they have. These players will take them so far then be discarded, abs the business will eat that loss as the cost of growth.

The equivalent would be Newcastle signing Ronaldo for a ridiculous sum just to realize that he doesn't actually make the team any better.

I doubt sponsors care that much about old men with extremely diminished name value over OC who is a goldmine for youtube add revenue, the Young Bucks who are big merch draws, and Kenny Omega who appeals to an enormous potential audience of gamers, unless the sponsors are 40 year old attitude era marks

Nobody with any power in mainstream advertising has any idea who any of those people are.

Heres a fun fact for you. Al Snow, a midcard jobber 20 years ago, has greater mainstream recognition than the Young Bucks.
The promotional power to the mainstream of WWE and AEW is akin to judging a thermonuclear weapon against a spud gun.

Network execs are old boomers. They won't recognize OC, Kenny, or Bucks but they'll remember being middle aged and drinking a beer while Mark Henry came out to sexual chocolate.

This is I agree with. Even if he's completely broken you could easily do one monster run with squashes and then tapping out to the next star.

A bad idea in the sense that it was a waste of money? Without any doubt. A bad idea idea in the sense that it was harmful for the shows? Not really.
Tony is just wasting money on him while he's invisible (at least on screen). At least Henry got over with his Rampage interviews, but Beeg doesn't offer anything at all on scree

The real schucky duckyness of this is Paul claiming he left WWE because he wanted to be featured and wrestle more. So tired of these homosexuals virtue signaling. Just say you went where the money was better

No. Tony can do no wrong. Just look at all the money he has spent on bringing in ex-WWE guys and how the ratings have soared since Dynamite launched! Great return on investment! Thanks Tony!
