im not entirely certain since im not involved in the scene, i mean i did try to reach out to people. i tried talking to multiple activists in sl. mostly ghosted. feels almost impossible to try to talk to a similar person.
i remember one incident though, during covid, apparently a gay couple met at a hotel, and they were jailed and abused and they left the country. if i read this somewhere, not certain if its during covid or not though.
I don't know if it's just poverty as the reason you can't get hormones but I think you should do whatever you can to get them. obviously I'm not there but quickly reading the wikipedia article for sri lanka shows that it's pretty okay for trans people? For example you can legally change your gender without surgery something I can't even do in my state in America. And they're working to decriminalize homosexuality. It sounds like you've latched on to this "I must become a refugee in canada so I can start my transition" idea and are using that to delay what you need because you are afraid.

Wouldn't that kind of make you an economic migrant though and not a refugee? Being poor isn't a reason to seek asylum unless you actually fear persecution in the country you're from.
