im getting burnt out

Doing a CS masters while working full time as an electrical engineer.

I dont do much at work but the management wants me to come to office so im getting pretty sleep deprived as im doing homework till past midnight everyday.
I really just want to quit but i get paid ok (much lower than if i just went software) and i need health insurance.

i have like a big cash cushion but i cant bring myself to quitting. ive slept full hours in the last 3 days...

Why can’t you just get a software dev job with your EE degree? Why do you have to do a masters?

im a chemical engineer that switched to "automation engineer" at a large pharma company. everyone else in the dept is electrical and chemical..
tbh i probably can get a software job rn with what i know but i already started my masters.

My school im doing it at is pretty elite and my real goal was to segway into wall street using school name. ive interviewed at a top quant firm for an internship but i didnt do any leetcode practice so wasnt prepared. couldve aced the coding interview if i remembered basic c++ syntax.

how do you test that the code you wrote for hardware works properly? in the web-shit world we have unit-tests and integration tests that run when we run our code against a CI/CD pipeline

you go in the field and test it. line by line.
then do tons of documentation verifying it works.

a lot of isnt even writing code. its making one device talk to another. and they all speak different languages. in the CS world if you remember taking a class called systems where you learned about circuits and registers etc. my job is kind of more related to that except its also a bit of project management and babysitting vendors.

that sounds like a nightmare. I feel like any embedded dev could easily switch to web shit for higher pay and a significantly easier experience. I do not understand why more embedded folks dont do this. I did take a systems class but I have never applied it in my work and thankfully so

          what year are you in?
i worked 5 TA’s and a part-time job while doing my MA. What kept me going was knowing that I only had two years of this hell to worry about it and then I’d be instantly more attractive to my clients over undergrads in the same field.

          have like a year left.
im doing a 2 year masters. i could make go slower but i dont want to. school is exciting for me. my job isnt. i dont want to be doing this same job for 10 years to get to 200k+.

Have you considered not having an ailment?
Maybe you are fat, you should lose some weight
Homework? I procrastinate til 5 minutes before class started sometimes and challenged myself to see if I could finish it in time.

I worked full time and studied to engineering degree for two and a half years.
I could not find job from my engineering field, but then i took time off for school (6months) starting from jan 1.
I applied for one job this year in late jan and got the job.

For me it worked to just go for it. I think my applications were bad before and i when i applied for this new job i actually wanted it and they saw it.

    Just quit shitty job. Yolo

yeah strongly considering it but my current manager is a really nice guy who gave me a huge raise and put me at higher end of the band for my level when i got promoted. I don't want to screw him over because we are already stretched thin. even if im just the guy responding to day to day shit, its important.

nagger, what the fuck are you doing? Just put all your money in crypto and chill for 3 years, writing random code for your projects. What's the point of wageslaving if there's hundreds of countries where you can live on $100/mo
Holy shit, no wonder you retards become alcoholics, life is literally too hard for you to figure out. Brainwashed cattle.
