Most of these are a stretch but its no secret that they wore their influences on their sleeves. A lot of their songs are straight up improvement over a lot of those as well
Most of those are so obscure, even today.
It's mindblowing how he managed to get hold of so much obscure music in the age of casettes, when even record stores didn't have that. Krist apparently had a huge music collection and he must have found a lot of stuff to steal from there. Krist suggested to him they should do Love Buzz based on a song by some Dutch hippie-era band.
So it's clear he stole a lot of motifs, but he turned them into better songs, in most cases. And lot of the stolen motifs ended up turned into songs that had a different sound overall. Come As You Are doesn't sound like that harsh energetic Eighties post-punk hit. It sounds more melodic contemplative, like a quirky alt-rock pop song.
Basically Cobain used the 'Apple method' of taking something that was first invented by someone else and turning it into a product so popular it would sell by the millions.
And since Apple was created by a boomer obsessed with the Beatles, maybe it's actually the Beatles recipe of turning anything into pop and selling like crazy.
It takes some talent to create something better out of something original, I guess. Led Zeppeling also stole the melodic line from Stairway To Heaven from Taurus. Who the hell knows today who Taurus was?
Eventually this didn't help Cobain fix his life, he still crashed and burnt. Which makes me wonder what kind of voodoo are Page and Plant practicing to stay alive despite being such thiefs. Bad luck was supposed to catch with them too.
>unintentional
Kurt absolutely had ties to early 80s punk music (he was in a punk band with buzz osborne), Butthole Surfers, Smashing Pumpkins, and Wipers. I'm convinced kurt's existence was such a damper to cosmic karma that it was destined he would have to kill himself, as an act of mercy to the world around him that he ritually worsened. Fuck Turdvana and fuck Turd Shitforbrains
Courtney wrote better songs anyways.
If you really dislike him and the band so much, why spend the energy railing against them. Just go away and enjoy what you enjoy. Nobody is telling you to listen to them, and he's been dead for 30 years or whatever. Let it go.
why the fuck hasn't dave ghrol been called out yet jesus fucking christ he's the most irritating out of all of them, and this includes billy and courtney
this. after everlong he's been chasing that dragon and failing for decades. he should have ended foo and joined qotsa, or gone onto something else. the foo shtick was already well past expiration by the early 2000s

Not rip off, just really simple and basic riffs that have been thought about by other people due to their simplicity
Most art is borrowed and reinterpreted. A lot of the time it’s unintentional.
To ad to this, there’s only so much you can do with an instrument and overlap is bound to happen.

Both Eighties and Come as You Are are a ripoff of Life Goes On by The Damned.
most of these riffs are so simple you can come up with them anyways just by playing guitar
>ARTISTS USE LE… INFLUENCES?
>THATS LE BAD!
There's no way in hell he ripped off El Chavo
>Hey, Wade. im into John Coltrane
True and admitted. Based as usual. Next tread.
Did it better also. Sameguy
I'm a creep. I'm a weirdo.
I was going to say it's total bullshit that Kurt ripped off some yugo band, but then I remembered he probably heard it from Novoselić
